Title: Cacko 1.22a + Origo (pink Sticker) Wlan Problem
Post by: MONVMENTVM on July 04, 2005, 01:13:32 pm
Hi!

just got my zaurus c860 today with a saneo/origo nl-2511CF mercury wlan card and i cannot connect to the net.

i tried to uncheck the "auto connect" things and also typed in the ess-id manually... but nothing works.

Quote
cardctl ident:
pruduct info: "WLAN", "11Mbps_PC-Card_3.0", "ISL37100
manfid: 0x000b, 0x7100
function: 6 (network)

do i have to change the hostap_cs.conf? if yes: what should i change?

pls help.

cheers,

some additions:

it is the card with the pink sticker on it.

i tried following:
set up an ad-hoc network with notebook and zaurus. when zaurus tries to connect, the notebook shows me a connection with full signal... and when the zaurus gives up to connect the notebook also shows no connection... that means that the zaurus is able to connect... but there must be an error which stops the connection.

please help me. i need the wlan...

cheers,
Giulian

Sorry that I cannot help, but I am having the self-same problem.  I had the card working, but then upgraded my ROM to the Cacko 1.22.  This is a very good ROM and I sorted everything except this

When I first installed this card I had a lot of trouble, and we found a patch on a forum, but I cannot remember where it was!

Update is that I got the card to work.  I logged in as SU, changed the wlan-ng.conf file to have  the following :

card "Origo v2"
version "WLAN", "1Mbps_PC-Card_3.0","ISL37100P","Eval-RevA"
bind "prism2_cs"

I could not write this to the file originally, but sussed to become SU in terminal mode, giving you the permission to over-write the current file.  I used Q-Zed text editor to change the file, because it allows you access everywhere.  Save the file as something different then use mv as SU.

It still took a bit of time for the card to recognise the network, but once it has done the binding it works OK.

Set ESS ID to any.

Good Luck.

I have the same card, branded mercury. Some people say it's rubbish, but it's a lot more sensitive than my socket/symbol card.

See another thread about WPA and hostap etc.

I have the same problem with my Linksys WCF12 card.  No problem until the latest ROM.  I hope there is a hotfix soon.     I will try editing that file, but it may be beyond my skills.  I am just a lowly user afterall.
