Title: Does The New Collie Kernel Work For You?
Post by: Moreno on July 07, 2005, 04:18:06 am
After reading about the problems arised with the new collie kernel 2.4.18-r21 and default GPE/Opie Images, I was curious about how many people got this working.
Maybe the poll results can help people to decide whether or not upgrade.
I'll start the poll with a big NO :-)

After reading the threads about this topic I'd say that the new kernel only works with Hentges ROMs, but not with a stock OZ 3.5.3 image.

The reason might be that the Hentges ROM is based on newer sources than the month-old OZ release. While I do not know how the new kernel was built, I'd say backporting the patch to a clean OZ 3.5.3 build environment is required to produce a working kernel for OZ 3.5.3.

I'd do it, but my internet is still offline at home so someone else has to step in.

I believe you are correct with this. Slightly off topic… but I also believe that this was the reason that your ‘poodle’ PXA255 kernel and azurensis’s  PXA255 kernel worked properly when the one in the official OZ3.5.3 feed would not.
