Well, under a year ago I bought this loverly sl-6000, and love it to pieces; it's in great shape, minor abrasions on the plastic flip-up cover but with a screen protector on it since day 1, still have the original packaging although it's been flashed to OZ 3.5.2.
Aaaanyway, started up a new job in a place that's so security-sensitive they won't allow anything with built-in 802.11, bluetooth, etc (you even have to remove batteries if you enter some areas with an IR-capable device, no USB drives allowed, no chance to install useful software on your computer without explicit approval, etc etc. I couldn't even install my old PS/2 ergonomic keyboard on my desktop).
So the 6k has got to go; I'm not going to keep around a PDA that's useless for 95 percent of the time I'm away from my desktop. Cool factor is one thing, but...
Anyway, before I put this fella up on eBay and repurpose the funds, I thought I would go for a long shot and see if anyone bought a C1000 (or a 3000 or 3100 while I'm dreaming) and is thinking "You know, this is nice, but I'd really rather have something with built-in 802.11b so I didn't have to muck about with this CF card".
("Why yes!", C3k users will say, "This built-in hard drive is highly overrated! I sure would rather have PDAZilla with built-in wireless and a cradle big enough to use in a bar brawl!")
But seriously, if anyone's in that situation, let me know. I checked with the security folks at work, and at least the C1K is "legal" since the only thing it has is IRDA. I figure such a deal is unlikely, but I figured I'd at least offer--I can always go the eBay route.

you would'nt happen to have the CF expansion jacket for the SL-6000 would you??? I am interested if you do. How much are you going to ask for it. I have one 6000 but if the price is right i might be willing to get another.

Nah, no sled (and a good thing too, because I'd be even more sad). I'm hoping to get about $500 or so; last two on eBay went for $660 with goodies and $535 with a case, and this has neither, so I think $500 or so is reasonable as far as "current market worth" (and with Conics selling a new C1000 for less, that even makes the trade a happy thing).
Heh--I could throw in my portable tripod-with-mat stand and USB cable that made it a lot of fun with a keyboard, I guess. But never did get the USB keyboard mapping right under OZ.

this is kind of off topic but what did you like or dislike about OZ vs sharp rom. I am thinking about flashing to OZ but did not think it was as usable as the sharp rom?

Only thing I didn't like about OZ 3.5.2 (never tried 3.5.3) was that I couldn't power it down with the power button (annoying but doable) and that I couldn't plug in a USB keyboard and have it map numbers/symbols correctly. Oh, and I never did get recording to work (it worked under Sharp ROM).
So why did I reflash? Well, I booted up the Sharp rom and couldn't find a way to ssh in or out to it by default, and it just made me darn mad. Never mind that it was installable--it just pointed out to me that the Sharp rom was designed for users, and OZ was designed for user/hackers. Besides, I dig the whole OZ concept; it's really phenomenal.
