Title: Hentges Doesn't See My Sandisk
Post by: niv on July 08, 2005, 12:44:47 pm
Hi,
Why is it that the latest 3.5.3 (zImage and opie off OE site) "sees" my connect plus as a storage media - but Hentges opie with the NEW 3.5.3 r21 doesn't ?

Whats the output of "cat /proc/partitions" and "dmesg | grep mmcd"?

What's the exact output (use copy and paste) of "/etc/sdcontrol insert"?

Looks perfectly normal to me. What's the output of "mount" and "df -h" right after a reboot, and after "sdcontrol insert" ?

note: I have a 32 mb mmc - so I didn't run cardfs yet.

I clicked a key - and opie didn't load:

mount

/dev/root on / type jffs2 (rw)
proc on /proc type proc (rw)
ramfs on /dev type ramfs (rw)
tmpfs on /var type tmpfs (rw)
devpts on /dev/pts type devpts (rw)
/dev/mmcda1 on /media/card type vfat (rw,noatime,nodev)

and

df -h

Filesystem                Size      Used Available Use% Mounted on
/dev/mtdblock4           14.1M     12.3M      1.8M  87% /
tmpfs                    30.5M     48.0k     30.4M   0% /var
/dev/mmcda1              30.3M     22.0M      8.4M  72% /media/card

no change after /etc/sdcontrol insert

Umm, the card is perfectly mounted. I don't see any problem.

Sorry core, I must be missing something

I mean that a CF card doesn't show - up as mounted.
the card is sandisk connect plus - which does work with the opie of openemmbed download.

I have the SanDisk ConnectPlus card also and the storage part has never worked on any Opie I've tried,  including the Hentges.  I just did a total fresh install of the latest available files for Hentges and it still doesn't recognize the storage part of the card - fortunately,  I got the wireless part to work by installing 3 ipk files.

I also would like to revive this.  I am fairly new to the Zaurus, and managed to get a Zaurus collie, and a Sandisk connect plus.  On the Hentges rom I am having the exact same problem.  Is there any way to make this card work as both storage media, and WIFI adapter?

Some people seem to be having luck with these cards.  I wonder how well they will run with wellenreiter or kismet.

Not at the moment I don't think - there's a kernel patch which is applied to stop one or other part from working (I think it stops the storage part from working) as it's currently unstable/conflicts (from memory, you'll have to look at the monotone notes for the patch).

If you want to do some testing etc., then let me know and I'll see if I can help you with the setup, etc. (though I don't have one of these cards so I won't be doing any development for it).

They should work "out of the box" with the latest OZ builds (not sure if this also includes 3.5.3).

sorry,  I didn't see this posting before today.  The 3 files are:
hostap-utils_0.3.7-r0_arm.ipk
prism3-firmware_1.8.3-r2_arm.ipk
prism3-support_1.0.0-r0_arm.ipk

I do a clean install and put those files on the cf card or sd card and install them in that order to RAM.  Now I'm not sure if installing to RAM is necessary or not,  but one time I tried the 64-0 config of OZ and installed to sd card and it didn't work ...may have been some other factor involved so I can't say positively that it must be installed to RAM in order to work.

I tried to attach the 3 files to this posting...hope it works.

Hope this helps.
