My Sharp ROM Zaurus has a little icon in the taskbar which you click and choose to connect to the internet (also has a drop down menu of connection choices). I don't see this at all in my Opie Zaurus. I put my wireless card in the slot and it automagically connects...while I DO like that feature and it has its advantages, sometimes I would like to have my wireless card not connected and not draining the battery like when I attempt to access files on my Sandisk ConnectPlus card.
Perhaps there is a utility available for Opie which performs this task?
Thanks in advance.

One way to do it:
In a terminal do cardctl eject. In konsole it's already pre-configured in the drop-down command list.
To activate your CF wifi card again do cardctl insert
Bonus hint: If you go to a coffee shop and you're trying to get on their network but you're not getting a lease, even though you've made the proper network settings, doing cardctl eject && cardctl insert will help by resetting the card.
Hmmm, on the other hand, my Opie does have the taskbar utility to eject the card....

you can have the same effect of card eject just pressing on the computer taskbar icon, and select 'eject card ....', so no need to type in terminal

ipkg install -d opie-networkapplet
Note that this does not offer a nice drop-down list of possible connections like the Sharp ROM, but rather buttons to bring any currently configured interfaces up and down. In other words, you can't configure three separate Wi-Fi connections (e.g. work, home, and "any") and easily start any one of them.
