i only have a 512MB Lexar SD right now
and 50% of the space are taken by GPS maps
so i have only 256MB left now to play around with it
do you guys think i should able to install Debian + X/Qt + Gpsdrive on this SD card?

thanks

space is going to be a major problem for you. X/Qt requires about 40MB. The vanilla debian install needs 240MB. Mine adds Firefox and Thunderbird and pushes it to 260MB. You will definately also require a swapfile as well which is at least another 64MB.
seems like you will need a bigger sd card for debian. you could squish it on, but then you will not be able to install anything which defeats the purpose of having debian.
you probably be best off to just have X/Qt and install some standalone X applications from pdaXrom and X/Qt feeds.
