Title: Debian/icewm On My C1000
Post by: omro on July 27, 2005, 05:38:16 am
Hi there,

I've no clue how to use ICEWM, can't see a simple control panel thingy, might just be being totally dense however.

The clock on my debian seems to be an hour slower than the clock on my Z. Is there a way to change this?

How do you move the main bar from bottom to top of the screen?

Oh and it lists theses, but none seem to work, might be cause it's cut down, who can say.

Any tips for this new environment on my C1000, very much appreciated.

Thanks!

are you in full screen? if not hit the menu and tap full screen, menu should be at the bottom and to get it to the top do the following.

If you want the icewm task bar to appear at the top instead of the bottom of the screen, then edit /home/zaurus/.icewm/settings and change the TaskBarAtTop entry.

TaskBarAtTop=1 # 0/1

I have the same problem with the IceWM taskbar being on the bottom. But I can't find the settings file to edit (maybe I'm just a little bit blind?). If I look in /home/zaurus on my ROM, there's no .icewm directory at all. If I look in /home/zaurus in the Debian image, there is .icewm, but inside it, there is no settings file. Should I look in /home/root?

Please clearify this for me

Thanks
osguru

PS: Sorry for asking so many questions...

are you on any form of daylight savings time? I'm on british summer time. So an hour out from GMT.

Glad it all went well for you :-)

Loving the fact that my instructions are being helpful :-) It's a good feeling

omro,

i'm on Toronto, Ontario, Canada
we're using Eastern Time
and we do have daylight saving time

i guess because i'm using Cacko 1.23beta ROM instead of original Sharp ROM JP

you should try Cacko too
they have a development release and it works great

btw, i'm wondering about your PDair case, how much was it? is it handy to have one? i'm thinking buying a case which will hold my Zaurus and my Netgear MA701 WiFi and my GPS CF

Fantastic! Where does one obtain the 1.23 developer release?

Thanks,
sleepy

I was going to reflash, but was hoping to reflash with the final version of cacko, then I don't have keep flashing and reflashing. Also am looking in pdaXrom, which is pretty cool.

It was about 20 UKP as I recall, not quite sure. I think the case is amazing. It protects my Z from the inside of my bag, it's thick leather and feels padded. OK, there are a few flaws with it, which I think I mentioned in another post about these cases, but if you have a Z, buy a case.

When I had a 5500, a colleague of mine bought one two months later. I used a case, he did not. A year and a half later, my Z still looked virtually new, his looked like it had been in Robot Wars.

You need to download it, either from chuckster's site or from Meanie's site. If you want to download from Meanie's site (I think there are the most recent versions), search for "X/qt jumbo pack" (Google), go to the first link and go down to "Installing PocketWorkstation". There, you'll find the link.

edit: Here's the link: Install script (http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/jumbo/xqt-debian-install.zip)
You'll also want to load and install updated debian scripts 0.5 before running the install script: Debian scripts (http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/custom/xqt-debian-scripts_0.5_arm.zip) If you unzip the first file, you'll get xqt-debian-install.sh. The second file will give you the debian scripts ipk.

That can't have been fun, tired and things going wrong = very frustrated and angry person.
