Hello,
I really want to get the gimp working, but have had some difficulties.
Gimp 1.2.5 seems to run fine, but most of the buttons don't have text ( or have misaligned text ), so I have been unable to do much testing to see if everything is working.
Gimp 2.0.5 runs beautifully, until I try to open or save a file (that is, by creating a new image and then trying to save that). At which point it seg faults. I can open an image by using GQview as a middle man.
I would really rather try to fix 2.0.5 first, since it's a lot better than 1.2.5.
Here's my terminal output, with comments:
"
# gimp
/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins/svg: error while loading shared libraries: libbz2.so.1.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
(gimp:10583): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: gimp: wire_read(): error
//gimp done loading
//create new, and attempt save
Segmentation fault
#
(script-fu:10585): LibGimpBase-WARNING **: script-fu: wire_read(): error
"
I had the gimp and some of the libraries installed on the cf card, which might account for the loading error, but I can't account for the seg fault. Could it be that the ipk i got is bad?

I had the same problem but it was fixed by installing the bzip2 package which includes libbz2. The gimp ipk should have bzip2 in the "Depends" list but this has been missed by accident.

@rgrep: That does take care of the library loading problem, but it still seg faults when I try to open or save. Were you able to open and save files?
Does anyone have (or had in the past) the gimp 2.0.5 working? If so, I'd like to know where you got the ipk from.

It seems that the ipk packages are not tested on "clean" installations, ie fresh installations from the standard initrd + zImage that users would be using. Time to beg the developer or someone with a spare Z to test out the dependencies ...

did someone get gimp working? it runs really nice and i can do anything with it, expect opening and saving files. but opening is not so big problem because i can associate pictures to start with gimp or open it with gqview... but i am also not able to save anything.
