Title: Wellenreiter, Tckrom and ambicom card?
Post by: theb on January 31, 2004, 11:09:53 pm
Ive been trying to test out wellenreiter for awhile but wanted to make sure which kernel I will need to make it possible.  I have a ambicom card and Im sure its on the prism driver.  Im using sash\'s kernel with the Tkcrom and wellenreiter won\'t work with this kernel so does anybody know what kernel I will need to make wellenreiter work and where to get it?  Also, when changing kernels, will all my setting and apps need to be reinstalled?

Thanks

I haven\'t been able to get Wellenreiter to work with any of the Sharp-related kernels.

Hi

Firstly you can flash a kernel without reloading any apps.

In order to run Wellenreiter you need a kernel with wireless exstensions enambled. for the 7x0 series there are 3 available here in ZUG downloads with various other enhancements on two of them.

They have been patched to enable Symbol based cards and not all cards will work with them so its a bit trial and error. Once you have installed the kernel connect to your ap then run iwconfig from the console if you get a read out about wireless exstensions your good to go if not theres a chance changing your spectrum.conf to include your card may work but don\'t count on it.

BTW if you get an warning message about v12 / v13 thats o.k you can ignore it.

I had success for wellenreiter with a prism2 card, and the hostap drivers from www.cacko.biz/~sash/laze on tkcrom with I cant remember which kernel. Basicly I prefer hostap, because iwconfig/iwpriv works, not that long and complicated linux-wlan-ng stuff to configure a card.

Can you tell me what kernel your running to get wellenreiter working with the tkcrom?  I\'ve been trying to get that app working forever, any help would be helpful.

thanks

I checked it. I\'m using javaboy+tkcrom+hostap on a c760. I have wireless extensions, kismet, wellenreiter working now. The linux-wlan-ng drivers should be banned for their coimplicated syntax, hehe.

Hello crazy-b,
www.cacko.biz/~sash/laze no longer exists (they moved their website), could send me your hostap drivers ? I\'m using javaboy+tkcrom as well.
Thanks a lot !

I have a new kernel with the hostap driver (latest and greatest) built in.  It will be a part of TKC 3.0.  It has all the preemptive stuff (with no bugs or crashes!...ancient chinese secret!),  I think proto is just looking for a release location since zaurus.com has been less than helpful.  I have tested it thoroughly along with a few beta testers and its looking _VERY_ solid.  Stay tuned...its coming soon! :-)

How about here on the ZUG? It\'s where most of the Z activity is these days, Offroadgeek is going a greatjob.

Looking forward to 3.0, tKc seems to be my default ROM as I\'ve got everything working, Wellenreiter, Kismet, Kino and now with KO/PI, it\'s got decent PIM use - once I can sync PIM apps with Windows & Linux life will be very good.

I hope you\'ve got the backup working on the new version    Nothing more tedious than re-installing and adding all of the tweaks after playing with a different ROM.

Cheers,

Jerry

Will TKC support the 5600?  If you need a low-volume mirror, I can put one up on my server.

I\'ve offered space to proto before for space on the zug server, but turned it down.

The offer is still open

(1) I can provide some space on a high-bw server. Just let me know.

(2) Would it be possible to be part of the beta testing team ?
