Title: Preload Applications
Post by: bam on July 30, 2005, 10:50:04 pm
is there a central list? In other words does the z have a list of apps in needs to preload(fast load), reason being, netfront and zdict is fastload by default but I deleted the *.desktop configs and need to make sure they dont preload.

Thanks

Nothing *needs* to be fastloaded, it's just done as otherwise some apps can take a long time to start up. Therefore the apps which will be fastloaded are those which are used often (PIM stuff) and those which are large and therefore take time to load.

You don't need to delete the .desktop files either, hold the stylus down on the icon for the app and a window will eventually pop up in which you can turn off fastload,

I know about the fastload checkbox, problem is I removed all the stock rom shortcuts(*.desktop) which give me access to the checkbox in question. So if anyone has those *.desktop files that they can zip up for me(from a stock 3100) it would be much appreciated(that way I dont have to "reconfigure" the stock app shortcuts(*.desktop files)

You can get them out of /root/.home_default.tar

You can see if they are fastloaded or not by running
Code: [Select]
ps axfrom the terminal.

I know I have like 3 or 4 apps that fastload, I want to stop them from fastloading better than killing them after each reboot

Hold the stylus on the offending apps icon, until the properties dialog pops up. Unselect "fast load".

Sorry my post wasn't clear - You can get the .desktop files out of /root/.home_default.tar

JUst unpack it to a folder or open it in winzip if you are a windows user

stu, I saw the "recovery" items, and that worked, just restored what I needed, unchecked the fastload then deleted the *desktop files and icons with the tab manager. Thanks

tovarish,
I definately am going to look, thanks.
