Title: C1000 Or C3000 Or C3100?
Post by: chyang on August 02, 2005, 04:57:30 am

At present my personal preference is C3000, for it has the embedded microdrive, has one spare CF slot for communication use. Also, it is cheaper than the 112MB more NOR flash model C3100. But it is a little expensive than the C1000.

Any suggestion or recommemdation?
Thanks.

I went for the C1000, cause the 1GB SD card was cheaper than the jump to a C3000 and that was more than enough storage for me.

Plus it looks cooler

I am also thinking the same thing...
however, it seems that the adapter shiped with C3000 is not useful for me...
while the one shiped with C3100 is ok
I am living in Hk and voltage here is 220V

After reading some posts here, it is said that we should not use any cheap adapter...
After adding the cost of adapter to C3000, the cost is closed to C3100...

oh! difficult to decide!

What's the volatage that the adapter shipped with C3000/C1000?
I'm also use 220V.
But I have SL-5500's adapter, maybe it is also applicable to C3000/C1000.

But I remembered that SD driver is not so good, will it be more slower than the C3000 with microdrive?
I have the experience of SL-5500, the SD read/write speed seems to be unacceptable. That's why I prefer a C3000 at present.
C3100 seems a little over-priced to me, with 112MB more NOR flash which is only valuable to me. The bundled software seems to be useless for me.

I believe that the SD card is faster on the C1000, it seems that way to me, plus you can buy the faster access SD cards.

Mine seems perfectly acceptible to me.

Hey terry, why don't you just buy a converter that cost around HK$50?

trisof and streamline has a ea-70s sharp adaptor

if you owned a zaurus before, its the same one.  the sl5500 adaptor works for c1000 as well and other models.

in fact, i have read a post saying that there is example that some poor adapter kill the Z
and when you buy a machine for several thousands HK$...why dont you buy a better adapter?
A cheap adapter isnt the same as a cheap lethercase which cannot damage your Z (ok, in most cases)
Therefore, I think a better adapter is worthwhile

try to imagine:
is there anyone who is willing to purchase two 6800GT graphic card(SLI), but buy a cheap power source for the computer?

terryleung83, I can help you to find one adapter locally for the SL7500C. Or you can find one in Shenzhen, which is not far away from HongKong. I think the price won't be so high, and the quality shoule be as good as the Sharp one. For it's also Sharp's product.

A liitle over-priced. compared to C1000, one microdrive and CF slot would cost near $200. Compared with C3000, the flash part would cost $100. Not so cost efficient.

I'll just point you to my response in this thread (which is still on the front page, by the way). I think the 3100 is the best choice unless you are really pinching pennies.

Any direct and quantative comparison between the lag in C3000 and C3100?
Thanks.
I planned to buy C3000 but more suggest C3100, I will take a look at the difference.

I don't have any hard numbers or anything, but reading what Japanese users have said leads me to believe that the 3100 and 1000 are pretty much the same in terms of speed. The lag seen on the 3000 comes from having parts of the OS on the microdrive, which means you sometimes have to wait for it to spin up. I think the 3100, on the other hand, is more like a 1000 with an extra internal microdrive (and some other minor tweaks as well).

Thanks icruise.
Any clue on the minor tweaks? I have no idea of where to get such information. I have compared the specification again and again, seems in vain.
My impression is that C3100 may have some later CPU, which may have better performance and fewer bugs. Just a wild guess.
Thanks.
