Title: Oz 3.5.3 Hcl (hardware Compatibility List)?
Post by: z06 on August 17, 2005, 05:18:32 pm
I am looking for a hardware compatibility list for OZ 3.5.3 - I realize that the Zaurus models it supports are on the openzaurus.org web page, but what I'm looking for would go deeper than that. A HCL that provides details on the CF and SD products on the market that have been connected to and work properly with the various Zaurus models running OZ 3.5.3.

For my own purposes, I'm looking for the list so I can determine the following:

- lowest cost CF wireless card for a Zaurus 5500
- lowest cost CF barcode scanner for a Zaurus 5500
- highest capacity SD memory card for a Zaurus 5500

If you've got the answers to those questions, help me out. More importantly, for the OpenZaurus "movement" it might be a good idea to compile a hardware compatibility list if one doesn't exist yet.

As far as CF wireless cards go, I think you're best buy would be the older Socket Low-power Wifi card as you'll save a significant amount of battery power with it.

And as far as highest capacity SD card goes, I have a 1GB Kingston card in my 5600 right now, works great. However, I am not 100% sure about anything higher. I imagine they would all work as well, as long as they all conform to the same standards and whatnot as the majority of the SD memory cards out there now.

Do you know if the older 5500 can support a 1GB SD card? 1 gig should be more than enough for anything I'd ever do with it.

Personally, I think you would be safe with getting a 1GB for your 5500. There are no compatibility issues that I know of.
