Thanks to my experience with the c3000, I realize now that I should have kept my c860 and wait for the c3100.
the 16mb flash seems, for everyone, to be a real constraint : Some distro won't be developped on it because it needs to much modifications.
Why PdaXrom (for instance) is already available on c1000 and not on c3000 ?
What about cacko ? (will be available on c1000/C3100) and not on c3000 as maslovski said today
So now I know that I have the more expensive brick in the world.
My question is (like probably a lot of c3k owners ) : is it technically possible to upgrade the 16mb flash to 128 ?
If yes, so we can hope to have a C3100-like
At what price ?
Probably Trisoft/Streamline have an answer ?

I thought it was more like that iamsmith will port the cacko rom over to the 3000 when it is finished for the 1k/3.1k.

Yes, aтв if not, then I'll try to find a C3000 to port the ROM myself, but it will take more time.

Hi there, you're certainly not alone in this wisdom of hindsight.
I too must voice my frustraton with my C3000. Though the hdd is certainly an advantage, I couldn't get some of the programs running on my C860 to run reasonably well on the C3000. Some apps will make the machine freeze outrightly.
Now that there's talk of the Cacko 1.23 Rom driving the C3100 I'll be givien up on my C3000.
Anybody interested in getting a fairly new C3000, english converted, should please get in touch by PM.
Kind Regards,
Ashu

What where you trying to do? I didn't had a single freeze with it till now - not even with Abiword or Firefox..
-
I didn't had any freeze with this rom. I only has a problem.. the wifi card! but it's easy config. and install hostap drivers
P.D.: Sorry, my engish is very bad.
-
The only problem I have with the Cacko ROM is that my Modem (Pretec, labaled HP CF modem) does not work. Sometimes QTopia terminates and restarts if i insert it, sometimes the entire machine reboots.
But it is registered as /dev/ttyS03 when inserting, according to the console output.
Strange...

Im sure he is talking about X/Qt with Meanie's builds of Firefox and Abiword. Use the search to find the threads regarding these packages.

Yes - exactly! I'm using this on top of the cacko beta and allways have a Firefox running in background (cause of the long loadtime) while frequently using kapi/kopi or some picture programs. Till now very stable and without any problems.

i'm also using cacko beta1 for c3000 and it's stable. i've been using it for almost 3 months now and it never froze. i'm running X/QT (previously installed by hand and currently with meanie's jumbo xqt which is really a great improvement for X installation).
I'm running kopi and kapi, using konsole and modifying pictures with Gimp.
My wifi card (Asus WL-110) works fine (freebox at home).
well on the other side i agree that i could have waited for the C3100 if i had known it would come out... well maybe not... my C3000 is the best PDA i've ever had

I agree with you that 'Zaurus' are the best PDA, but IFAIK (due to the fact that I owned a 6000 and a C860 before), the c3000 is not the most well finished PDA from Sharp.
The launch of the c3100, just after c3000 shows that Sharp wanted to 'repair an error'.
I'll tell you a story later, but it is not the moment yet
P.S : My wifi card (Asus also) works fine (also, Livebox at home) : finer with the c860, because sometimes the c3000 freezes my Livebox
