Alright, so just got my new SL-C1000 from Conic's, i converted the Rom over to PDAxRom to check it out, one problem, the Planex GW-Cf11X Wifi card i got doesn't work. And i can't really figure out the package manager either, i'm kind of a newbie to this so please be gentle...
I get nothing and it says "Anonymous Memory" when i plug it in, i tried the command in the termal and it doesn't find anything in either socket, so please help me out,
or, anyone know of any straight out of the box cards that will work in PDAxRom, i could never get my last card to work on my SL-5500, a problem that has urked me to this day.
Thanx

OK so i finially got a reading on it using OZ for a second
Product Info "Planex Communications Inc.","Planex GW-CF11X Wireless CF Card","",""
Manfid: 0xd601,0x0010
Function: 6 (networking)
anyone tell me what to do with this info?
-
I think you need hostap, I'm not sure though, I haven't got mine working in pdaxrom yet either,
-
I'm glad to see someone has it. I know that sharp released a new drive for it on their rom, but i never used the Sharp rom, and it's impossible to find an image to flash back to the origional rom, anyone out there got a link?
-
trisoft may have it.

I have gotten farther with this card, but still no luck. I have installed the wlan-ng package from pdaxrom, the prism3 package from sharp and done a whole bunch of fiddling with sharp's shell scripts. I have reached the point where I need to do a RAM update to the CF card via prism2dl. However, no matter what I do, when I run 'prism2dl wlan0 -s' (which should show the CIS and PDA info from the card), I always get a 'load_cardpda failed' message. I have verified that the prism2_cs module is loaded and that the card is present. cardctl show the right info. /proc/net/p80211/nsd show the right info. but prism2dl can't communicate with the card.
If anyone wants to help troubleshoot, I will gladly send you logs, scripts, etc.
Cheers.

Has anyone had any success with this card on pdaX yet?

I have this card it it works wonderfully with openzaurus, sharp rom, and Cacko on my C3000. OZ detects the card as a Sandisk Connect Plus, but it works fine all the same. Sharp Rom and Cacko with stock kernel required the ipk from this link [a href=\"http://support.ezaurus.com/sl-c3000/update/wlan_cf11x_b11/]http://support.ezaurus.com/sl-c3000/update/wlan_cf11x_b11/ . Cacko and Sharp Rom with Tetsu's special kernel required an update linux-wlan-ng package found at this link http://digit.que.ne.jp/visit/index.cgi?Lin...%E9%A5%A4%A5%D0 (http://digit.que.ne.jp/visit/index.cgi?Linux%A5%B6%A5%A6%A5%EB%A5%B9%2FGW-CF11X%A5%C9%A5%E9%A5%A4%A5%D0) . There is no pdaX for the c3000 (yet. I hope my donation helped). But it would seem that it should work as long as pdaX supports prism3 chipset devices such as the gw-cf11x.

I'm using this card with SL-C750. I've tried with the hostap driver of PdaXrom, but it didn't work.
I've installed Cacko Rom 1.23, which has a proper driver for this card.
I've saved the following files:
/lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/hostap.o
/lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/hostap_crypt_

wep.o
/lib/modules/2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/hostap_cs.o
/etc/hotplug/firmware/orinoco_ezusb_fw
/etc/hotplug/firmware/orinoco_usb_fw.bin
/etc/hotplug/firmware/pm010102.hex
/etc/hotplug/firmware/rf010804.hex

/etc/hotplug/firmware/symbol_sp24t_sec_fw
/etc/pcmcia/hostap_fw
/etc/pcmcia/hostap_fw.conf
After reinstalling PdaXrom (1.1Beta) and coping back the saved files above it works.
I can use WEP, too.
Best wishes,
Tamás

Hi,
I am using this card on a C3100, it is very sensitive and the range is impressive but I have to run a script everytime i want to use it and am very interested in your post. I am wondering if it would work on a C3100 running 1.1.0Beta1 but am unsure as to exactly how and where to place the code. I have found the files mentioned but am wondering if when I open the /lib/modules and then the 2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix the later is empty, I need to ask a silly question, where do I put the rest of the first line for instance. Thanks, I am rather new at this but learning fast.

Using beta2, download http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/1.8.4.tar.bz2 (http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/1.8.4.tar.bz2) and http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/primary.tar.bz2 (http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/primary.tar.bz2) then all you have to do is extract the two archives into /etc/pcmci/firmware and you should
be good to go!

Thanks I am going to try that. I've been holding off trying Beta2 because I just got Beta1 exactly how i like it. Thanks again.

From the beta2 Changelog:
hostap-drivers - LinkSys WCF12 moved to firmware config
If I am thinking correctly, that effects the planex card also. Not sure if it will work as easy in beta1. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks

I use this script: (with a folder ~/firm/)
#!/bin/sh
cardctl scheme default
prism2_srec -gs wlan0 firm/pm010102.hex
prism2_srec -gp wlan0 firm/pm010102.hex
iwpriv wlan0 reset 1
prism2_srec -rp wlan0 firm/rf010804.hex
iwconfig wlan0 mode 2
cardctl scheme planex
iwconfig wlan0 essid any
iwconfig wlan0 sens 3
ifconfig wlan0 up
All in the rar file (script and firmware) rename to rar!
EDIT: then I run dhcpd wlan0
-
thsanks to your script and files I managed to get my card to work.
Is there a less techie solution?

There is a very easy solution for this (and similar) wireless cfs.
1) mkdir /etc/pcmcia/firmware
2) copy pm010102.hex from [a href=\"http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/primary.tar.bz2]http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/primary.tar.bz2 to the new folder.
3) copy rf010804.hex from http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/1.8.4.tar.bz2 (http://www.red-bean.com/~proski/firmware/1.8.4.tar.bz2) to the new folder.
now plug the card in... WORKS (or unplug/replug)

I'd just like to confirm that I followed the instructions above and it works. Amazing! (Well light has started blinking)
Just need to configure it now.
-
Just to confirm I've now got my Zaurus 3200 with Planex Wifi card connected to my network.
If anyone is interested these commands got me going:
iwconfig wifi0 essid channel enc mode managed
dhcpcd wlan0
Info found here: http://mail.pdaxrom.org/node/66 (http://mail.pdaxrom.org/node/66)

Hi everyone,
I just got my C1000 yesterday and I tried everything to get my Planex GW-CF11X to work with it.
I'm running
Cacko QTopia Rom 1.12 1029311005
Kernel 2.4.20
I added those files you guys provided to directory /etc/pcmcia/firmware (which I had to create). The Planex Wifi Card blinks.
I tried to run:
iwconfig wifi0 essid <MY_WIFI_NAME> channel <MY_CHANNEL> enc <MY_WEP_KEY> mode managed
(with the proper replacements for wifi_id, channel and WEP key).
I get the following error:
Error for wireless request "Set ESSID" (8B1A) :
SET failed on device wifi0 ; Invalid argument.
I tried to create a Network profile for my Access Point in Settings/Network. And it just says "Network Offline" when I try to connect from there.
I thought it might be that I have a busted Planex wifi card but it works on my Thinkpad. I read on some other thread that I should install the ipk on this page: http://support.ezaurus.com/sl-c1000/update/wlan_cf11x_b11/ (http://support.ezaurus.com/sl-c1000/update/wlan_cf11x_b11/) in order to update the driver (i think). When I try to install that I get this error:
# ipkg install wlan-prism3_1.0.0_arm.ipk
Unpacking wlan-prism3...Done.
Configuring wlan-prism3..md5sum: /lib/modules/2.4.20/net/p80211.o: No such file or directory
'/lib/modules/2.4.20/net/p80211.o' is modified.
//usr/lib/ipkg/info/wlan-prism3.preinst failed. Aborting installation of wlan-prism3
Can anyone give me any ideas as to what might be the problem? I appreciate any input. Thanks in advance!

install hostap modules + firmware loader and then try
-
I suspect it's because you're using Cacko as opposed to pdaXrom which the category this post is in. It's a guess though. Let us know if you get it sorted. I've switched to the Sharp ROM for now but don't have my wifi card so I can't test it out.

It's been awhile. But can you point me to where I can get said hostap modules and and firmware loader?
Thanks!
