According to this article, Sharp is teaming up with Mitsubishi to produce the combo device. Also mentions that it is possible they will market separately, would love to see a clamshell device with integrated cell phone. Add wifi (802.11g) and bluetooth and you have the ultimate wireless combo device.

That was a pre 5500 prototype.
Would be nice if they revived the idea, though. In the meantime there are gsm cf cards.

Completely overlooked the date of publication. I'm obviously too anxious for a revolutionary change rather than evolutionary one. The Zaurus us a great platform and with a few changes could really be outstanding.

Disn't someone here pick op one of these on ebay?
-
Well, there's always the Motorola e680i and a780 Linux phones.
-
a few people. Guylhem has been working on stufff to go with it on the 6k afaik.
I was going to, but GCI wants $80 a month for gsm data access. given coverage limitatations in alaska It seemed like using wifi hotspots would be just as effective and much cheaper
-
That and GCI doesn't seem to carry any of the "cool" phones.
-
LOL.
I asked them about that..and compatibility for 3rd party gsm stuff (thinking about a gsm cf)... they said "no guarantees, but they'd be willing to give it a shot.
but hell.... for $960 annually on top of their "ultimate package" and cell plan, they should hand carry each bit

You must have smarter people down there. I had to practically fight the ACS lady for my dsl modem when she asked me what os my computer was. I told her that the computer that I was going to connect to it was a linux box. She starts to pull the box back saying they don't support linux!
