I have a big problem with Debian on the Zaurus
I have installed X/Qt and Debian PocketWorkstation from jumbo package.
The "apt-get update/install' command stop at 97% (when it read the packages) and freeze the Zaurus
-
could it be a problem with space and tmp location? free memory...are you using swap? I've had issues with debian if I didn't use swap, though not these problems, I think.

i have the same problem now... when updating it freezes at 97%.
i also have a swap of 64MB and my pocketworkstation size is 1024MB.
the first time i installed debian (size of 512MB) it worked... but i wanted to test also kde on it so i installed debian again with a size of 1024MB. with apt-get install kde it downloaded most of the files but in the end apt-get said that some packages couldn't be found so i should do an apt-get update or --fix-missing (the first time i installed debian i have done apt-get update before installing... but now i have forgotten it.) anyway i tried to make a update and again at 97% the zaurus didnt react anymore.
Edit: the only difference between the first installation of debian and the second (beside of the bigger size) is that i used the newer install script. first time i used 0.3.7 and the second time i used 0.3.8 i think.
i'll test it onemore time to update... if it doesnt work i'll delete pocketworkstation and install it with the script version 0.3.7 again. i'll tell you more after i've done this.
Edit#2: ok... zaurus froze again after trying to update... i'll installing debian now again with script 0.3.7

Ok, so I will test with 512 MB size ! I will not install OpenOffice... in any way I use only vim

[I could be wrong about the problem--it happens a lot.
also do you do apt-get clean after installs and upgrades? It cleans up the downloaded .debs

I will test but I don't think it will change something

ok i installed with script 0.3.7 but it doesnt work.... what i also saw is that i dont have openoffice anymore in the menu. and as i installed debian first i had... and later i installed the debian scripts 0.5. and i think after that the openoffice tab disappeared and i also could use apt-get (installed about 10 apps through apt-get but the space was too low for kde which i also wanted to test). i will deinstall the 0.5 debian script now and see what happens.
-
ok i have found the problem:
it is the debian script 0.5...
what you have to do:
deinstall all x/qt and debian files (also delete pocketworkstation located in /hdd3)... install everything again (but without debian scripts 0.5!!!)
then apt-get works again as it should.

Now I can surf on IPv6 websites with Firefox (before I used Konqueror but sometime it reboots the Zaurus...)
