For the average joe schmoe, nothing. WellenReiter has a gui interface, kismet has a hacked one. Kismet has a function called drone. That lets you point all the drones back to a central system for a wireless IDS. Works pretty well, I'm working on getting it to work with a bunch of old iPaqs and POE them.

At least Kismet detects my own home network. WellenReiter can't seem to find it and the app looks overly complicated to me. Of course, I have not tried it outside of my home yet.
It also complains about wanting to "kill" my DHCP client or something...I've tried "killing" and "not killing" and no matter which is chosen, my wifi is not detected. Kismet detects it fine.
