I've searched the posts but have not found any reference to any pdf software that can convert a doc or any other file to pdf:
does such a thing exist in the Zaurus world?
I found an "anything to .ps" converter, now all I need is a ps2pdf converter. The linux console has that built in on my desktop but It does not appear to be on the Zaurus.
Thanks.

Hi,
I use some free tools from Software 995 (http://www.software995.com) to convert MS-Word documents, Spreadsheets etc. to .pdf format. You have to put up with soe advertising but it *is** free.
For ps2pdf conversions, this is one of the GhostScritp utilities isn't it? You can get this utilit for PC or Linux here (http://www.ghostscript.com/).

You could also install OpenOffice and convert to almost any format including pdf.

I'm not sure if I can install open office without first changing the rom to open zaurus, if I understand correctly.
RE: ps2 pdf: I looked up the link you gave me. I'm not sure how to get this utility onto the zaurus: do you know?
Thanks,
Bob

Try PDFCreator, it's much faster than PDF995 and it doesn't have any advertising - it's GPL and Free too (http://sector7g.wurzel6.de/pdfcreator/index_en.htm)

You could try xtopdf (http://www.elsix.org/index.php?w=project&p=1220) or txt2pdf (http://www.elsix.org/index.php?w=project&p=959).
They might do what you want.
Otherwise you'll need to find a version of ghostscript for arm and pull ps2pdf from that (or cross-compile it yourself)

Are there similar utilities to convert PDF and DOC to HTML?
Personally, I find viewing PDF's to be problematic on the Zaurus; PDF viewers really crash and burn when attempting to view large PDFs or PDF's with lots of images embedded.

Another option, if you are online on the Zaurus is to use TOM
http://tom.library.upenn.edu/convert/ (http://tom.library.upenn.edu/convert/)
You upload a file and the website converts it for you and there are dozens of formats available.

That's pretty cool. Thanks!

http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php (http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php) converts any single or series of images to pdf and back again.

I agree that pdf files are too "heavy" to use on this platform. This Zaurus totally amazes me. It's really a mini computer not a PDA. What I need to do is make invoices and quotations to clients and email them as pdfs. I could always use the .doc format or html, but it's editable. I don't really want to make pdfs to view on the Zaurus, just to send out. I would love to be able to use txt2pdf type programs as noted above but the work associated with getting installed on the zaurus is too great for me as I am both a Zaurus and Linux newbie. (Linux ubuntu on laptop and one desktop for 8 months)
