I just bought a 512MbTranscend 80x CF card. All excited, I slipped it into the slot in my C1000 -- but realized to my dismay that the card is quite a bit thinner than the port, meaning there's a significant gap that dust and small objects could fall into.
I love my new Pdair case, but it does leave the CF port exposed -- and I find it annoying to take the CF card out every time I dump my Zaurus in my bag... I was hoping to leave it in all the time, like my SD card.
I guess the CF card is Type I, and the port is Type II, right, which explains this situation?
Has anyone had problems with this / come up with a magical solution?

Actually, not a bad idea! I use a small folded piece of duct tape (black, of course) and it does the job nicely.
Honestly though, your 3000/3100 was just NOT meant for harsh environments. Like many of the Zaurus machines before it, it's delicate, so if dust and dirt are getting into the slot .. you've got other serious problems on your hand.

Hmmm... For some reason I was under the impression that most CF memory cards are type I whereas the type II cards generally do other stuff like Wifi, microdrive, etc... maybe I'm wrong??

I feel your pain. I once left my slot open and when i looked, there it was. a nappy hair inter-twined within the cf pins. Mind you that i was an amature at removing nappy hair, i managed to pull it out wihout pulling on the cf pins or damaging anything else.
I now keep the slot covered with
either....
my bluetoothcard, wificard, or my type2 cf 1gb simpletech.
good luck.
right now, its covered with a type 1 bluetooth......which doesnt bother me at all.
come to think of it, it botheres me now.
were to get a type 2 bluetooth card?

Here's one... but I have no idea if it's still officially available or even works with the Z.

Cresho, did you try the Belking bluetooth CF card with the Cacko rom? It appears, that it does work with it. I will test it (as soon as it arrives from the ebay seller) to check...

I have sent it to Maslowsky - and he made it work. So I have not tested it - but I am pretty sure it works with Cacko rom ( Maslowsky is the creator of the Cacko rom)
