here you go. The tutorial i promised.
if you have problems, post it and if you have solutions, post it.
Let me know if it helps...ill check up on this in a bit.

install
libpcap0_0.7.2-20031220_arm.ipk
libopie1_1.1.0-20031220_arm.ipk
libopie2_1.8.2-20031220_arm.ipk
wellenreiter_1.0.2-sl-c7x0-6_arm.ipk
then go to applications or were it installed the icon on palmtop
hold icon, extra menu pops up and down and disable root
Once that is done create a network profile as follows:

after all that mess, all you need to to from now on
is...
start wellenreiter and then connect to this network which is wellenreiter from the
network applet in the taskbar. click on sniffer and hit start. You should
connect by then. If not, you just need to tweak it
according to your wifi card. To stop it, hit sniffer
and stop. Then you have a list of wifi spots. create a network mannually under network and you can log into it with the ess id that you gained.
problems.
1. you can't join a network from wellenreiter for this version so you need to just create a wifi connection wellenreiter found after stopping the sniffer. enter the information manually under config spec ess id and the name of the host wifi router (case sensitive).
2. Trying to log into the host under wellenreiter totally locks up your system so do it mannually under network in the zaurus.

Thanks for the instructions 'Cresho', nice to have it all laid out. I managed to get Wellenreiter working on my C1000 by gleaning tips and info from a bunch of other threads (I'm sure future noobs will be happy to only have to read 1 thread).
But the way I did it, wellenreiter will only work for about a minute and then it dies. It detects networks in the area for sure, but it only runs for a short time. I know others have encountered this problem before, and I'm wondering if that happens using the method you've outlined.
Just a little curious...
Thanks again!

i have a c700 working with Wellenreiter without running as root, and without a network profile. And no problems, never hangs, it works all the time.
Check the Wellenreiter that i am using: http://www.prodigyweb.net.mx/gilbertoalmaz...ellenreiter.rar (http://www.prodigyweb.net.mx/gilbertoalmazan/archivos/Wellenreiter.rar)
I use cacko rom.

Hi Cresho,
I'm having problem on finding those packages, would you help please?
I mean I can't find the opie version of the wellenreiter
from the link above, I got the version for C7x0, is it going to be the same? Please bear with me as I'm a newbie on this packaging stuff
thanks
And I'm using a symbol wifi card, would it work as well?

I'm pretty sure he is using this package:
[a href=\"http://www.zaurususergroup.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=UpDownload&file=index&req=viewsdownload&sid=22&min=40&orderby=titleA&show=10]http://www.zaurususergroup.org/modules.php...=titleA&show=10[/url]
Good luck getting it working!

Where the heck is an unrar utility for the zaurus? I'm at work and can't dock it and am trying to get that package unrar'd. Anyone have a quick link?

aww. thanks for the new link. But same problem as before.
This doesn't make sense!! It works for you and other people. I am on a sharp rom just like the rest of you.

It is weird!!
I use a C700 with a Symbol WIFI CF.
Cacko Lite version with the update.
Everytime i install Wellenreiter it works perfectly on my c700. No error´s, no need to create a network connection, no hangs. I sended the files to a memeber of this forum and it worked for him.
Strange problems!!

I've no idea about the software also..... I can't get it working. Would it be related to the Symbol Wifi setup on C1000 in my case? Because C1000 doesn't recognize the Symbol card as a wlan, so some tweaks are needed to be made and make it work as a lan card instead, and set the ssid, wep and stuff on teh network.config file directly. So I'm not sure if it is the reason why I can't get Wellenreiter working....
Anybody who has C1000/Symbol Wifi can help?

Well I am using a DCF-650W card on a 5600 running watapon rom so my setup is totally different and I have the same problem. So who knows.
Also, the following errors are printed in the console when I run it:
bash-2.05# ./wellenreiter
checking: eth0
Changing scheme from 'CardSuspend' to 'qpewlan4'...
SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device
wlanctl-ng: Network is down
mibget failed.
Some devices did not start cleanly.
OGlobal::creating global configuration instance.
OConfig::OConfig()
and so on. what is "SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device" and "mibget failed."?
-
i updated using the new file found on the rar..still problems but better than the old one.
-
Is it possible to get Wellenreiter to work at all with the SL-5600? When I try to install it doesn't even recognize the ipk. I am using the (what I assume) latest build Downloaded from the Wellenreiter homepage and am running Watapon.
[Oops! Have to remember to edit sig]

not sure at all since i do not own a sl-5600

Well, I have it all working as per my sig setup. With regards to "problem 1" above:
1...I can join a network from Wellenreiter. It takes about 4 secs to finish the association, during which the screen also goes temporarily black(a little unnerving).
-
I always noticed that feature however gave up when the screen went black. I'll try to leave it for a few seconds and see if it will connect.
-
anybody got this working on cacko? im trying to use the one from the feed and not my packages. Im currently testing the cacko rom again.
-
I had it working with cacko. I think I had the Cacko lite version using his special lite feed. Everything worked great accept the "connect to" feature for the access points. Other than that it would give me a good scan of ap's and other 802.x devices.
-
spent 4 hours on this.
got wellenreiter working on cacko 1.23. Never worked on the sharprom due to lack of "ad-hoc" on a c-3200 only...very problematic
here is how its done.
setup a newtwork for cf wifi card
Account
Name: wellenreiter
Config
Non-Spec ESS-ID: "ANY" (unticked)
ESS-ID: test
Network Type: 802.11 Ad-Hoc
WEP
Key Type: Disabled
PPoE
Use PPoE Authentication (unticked)
WEB Auth
Use WEB Authentication (unticked)
TCP/IP
Obtain TCP/IP information Automatically (unticked)
IP Address: 1.1.1.1
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 1.1.1.0
DNS
Auto-detect name servers (ticked)
Default domain: (leave empty)
Proxy
No proxy
----------------------------
now install these files.
libpcap0_0.7.2-20031220_arm.ipk
libopie1_1.1.0-20031220_arm.ipk
libopie2_1.8.2-20031220_arm.ipk
wellenreiter_1.0.2-sl-c7x0-6_arm.ipk
then go to applications or were it installed the icon on palmtop
hold icon, extra menu pops up and down and disable root
----------------------------
Now you are ready to run wellenreiter. DO NOT START UP THE NETWORK CONNECTION. wellenreiter will do it for you. after you start it up, go into sniffer->configure->interface->choose wlan0 under name and hostap under driver.close window and hit sniffer->start and now you can see your networks.
you still cannot connect to the network from wellenreiter so what i do is- I grab the name of the net station and under configuration when creating a new wifi connection, i enter the name in the ess-id under config and join it.. Then I eject the card with the icon in the taskbar, then suspend with on/off switch and power back on. then connect to the station.
if it doesnt work the first time, you can either use the terminal to "cardctl eject 0" and "cardctl insert 0" or eject the card manually and reinsert it. launch wellenreiter and it will auto execute the network connection. hit sniffer->start and you will see the networks
The problem with cacko 1.23 and the c-3200 is that it dislikes bluetooth cards and wifi cards. the mounting is all screwed up. when i stick the wifi in, i can connect to it but disconnecting and reconnecting is a bitch. So the only way i figured this out is to eject the card with the icon: then suspend Zaurus and power on again. another way is to manually replacing the card, and then reconnect. The other problem i found was that i need to disable auto connect from the network.
I'll probably dive into the z later and figure out why my cards are getting messed up but at least i have ad-hoc.
hope this helps a 3200 user.

here is how its done.
I tried wellenreiter from the Sharpromfeed: http://sharpromfeed.home.linuxtogo.org (http://sharpromfeed.home.linuxtogo.org) and it works. Simple as: ipkg update && ipkg install wellenreiter
Then sudo wellenreiter (enable the Wifi before of course).
I did not try to joing network.

I've a 3100 with cacko1.23 and I too am troubled by the problems with wifi card. It works when first booting up, but if I disconnect from access point, when I try and connect again my Zonet prism2 card's light flashes once briefly, and the "plug" icon continues to indicate attempts to connect and eventually times out.
I virtually eject and insert the wifi card using "cardctl eject 0" and "cardctl insert 0" (I have aliases carde and cardi defined 'cos I do this so often!) and it works again ONCE.
I find that if I want to use kismet, the same applies, it only works straight after reboot OR when card ejected/inserted.
cardctl status/ident and other diagnostics don't reveal why things are going wrong. I find if I change the card scheme to CardSuspend manually I can sometimes work round the eject/insert. I'm still playing with it though.
I don't recall any of these problems when I had an 860 running cacko1.23 back in March; I also had kismet and wellenreiter both working without hassle.
-
hey thanks. never knew the commands for ejecting and inserting from terminal on cardctl 0 that easy huh....
Yes, for sure, this is a pain in the but and now I don't need to suspend and start up from the power button.

I remember this problem too. I read somewhere once that you can setup a script on the network app to put the cardctl 0 restart statement when disconnecting and reconnecting..... anyone know how to do that???
