Title: Ext2 Or Ext3 On Hdd3 For Debian Install?
Post by: GadgetGuy on September 18, 2005, 01:02:10 pm
If I am not mistaken, Ext2 is faster than Ext3, as Ext3 is basically Ext2 + journalling.

I think journalling is only needed to make disc recovery faster after a crash.

So for speed Ext2 is the best.

Still, most instructions mention, that for Debian install Ext3 is the way to go. Why?

Is it not better to have some more speed, and a slower recovery process in case of a crash? Crashes do not happen all the time, and faster speed is always important, isn't it?

What am I missing here?
