I've googled all over to find a "JTAG cable DLC5" per the instructions on OpenSIMpad wiki (http://opensimpad.org/wiki/index.php/Docs/JTAGHowTo). I found a ton of links with jtag specs, etc, but couldn't find much on buying a ready made cable... then I found one on ebay.
Can someone tell me if this (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7546394331) is the right cable to get to fix my simpad?
TIA

AFAIK, Simpad doesn't have on-board JTAG connector. You'll need to solder one anyway, so why not to solder a cable then?

According to the [a href=\"http://opensimpad.org/wiki/index.php/Docs/JTAGHowTo]OpenSIMpad wiki[/url]:
SIMpad has a JTAG interface. With this interface you can install the primary bootloader if it has accidentaly been overwritten. With the help of the JTAG you can restore the bootloader and reload the operating system.
But if there's an easy way to just solder a cable to get the same results, I'm game. Can you explain this in more detail?

The cable you are trying to buy has a connector. Simpad doesn't have a connector on its board. You will need to solder either the whole cable or just a connector for existing cable. IMHO, it doesn't make much sense to buy a cable if there's no way to attach it, does it? And if you have to solder anyway, does it really make a difference whever solder the whole thing or just a part of it?

I honestly don't know what makes better sense... the way I see it, either way I still need a cable that allows me to connect the PC (laptop) to the simpad. What I'm not understanding from your posts is how I would connect the simpad to the PC (ie. via a cable I bought or make) in order to use the jtag tools if I don't buy this jtag cable?
