Title: Kapi In Rc11
Post by: donquixote on September 22, 2005, 12:37:16 pm
What happened to Kapi in the new RC11 feed? There is only Kopi.

Or is dlume just better? If it is, I'll use it. But how can I import all my Kapi contacts into dlume?

i used the 2.1.17 that is in one of the threads of this forum and that works just fine with rc11.

With pdaXrom & kopi, is it still possible to synch your calendar with MS Outlook?

I found it here (https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=11164&st=15#). But I cannot get it to work. I get error while loading shared libraries libstdc++.so.5: no such file yada yada... Any suggestions?

Just tried kdapim 2.1.17

Althought KA/Pi can be launched (despite the complaints about missing lib), there is no icon showing that it's working.

In matchbox I can only use task applet to switch to it.  But unfortunately task applet seems to be missing (broken?) in RC11 for C1000 (OK on C860).

Still it takes quite a while to bring up both KO/Pi and KA/Pi.  Is there any alternative?  For addressbook I see dlume, but I have yet to find other datebook programs.

Still finding my way to migrate from Sharp ROM to X, and the most critical issue is PIM functionalities.

Any suggestions are welcome!  Thanks!

UPDATE1:
-- Aterm does not function when either KO/Pi (both the package in the feed and the one in kdepim 2.1.17) or KA/Pi is running.  Starting Aterm only brings up a slender terminal window.  Nothing including right click can be done on that window.  Closing KO/Pi and KA/Pi will close that slender terminal window also.
-- When running KA/Pi from kdepim 2.1.17, tapping the icons on the matchbox panel will remove the icons.

UPDATE2:
Tested the two other packages in the unstable feed:
kdepim-unstable-1.10-rc9.1_2.0.14_armv5tel.ipk:
-- KO/Pi: OK
-- KA/Pi: icons lost in matchbox panel when tapping on them

kdepim_2.0.1_armv5tel.ipk:
-- Both KO/Pi & KA/Pi: icons lost in matchbox panel when tapping on them

See this forum topic: [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15157]https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=15157[/url]

The work around is to install libstdcxx from an older feed. Then all the older apps will work again.

Got kdepim 2.1.7 - installed and worked fine, however it not contain pwmanager which is the one app I am missing from rc11.  Apart from that rc11 seems solid.

I tried crosscompiling kdepim 2.2.3 from source but got :-

qmake: error while loading shared libraries: libstdc++.so.6: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Does anyone have a kdepim build with pwmanager for rc11 ?

I've compiled KO/Pi, KA/Pi, KOpieMail/Pi and PwManager/Pi version 2.2.3 for RC11 in one big package.
As mentioned in other posts, to use KA/Pi simply type Alt-Tab after startup.

I shamelessly "borrowed" icons from Evolution for Calendar, Contacts and Mail. If you don't like them, the original icons can be found in /usr/share/pixmaps/Originals and have to be copied to /usr/share/pixmaps.

Kopi looks nice, but on my 860 Kapi runs but does not open a window.
I see some messages about not being able to find libmicrokabc_sharptm.so there is some scattered information about what this is but I have not been able to make sence of it yet. Is there something I need to load to supplie this lib?

The error message signals that the SharpDTM plugin isn't supplied. As I said, you have to press Alt-Tab to popup the window. As far as I know it is yet unknown why the window isn't shown automatically. It seems to be hidden initially.

I think there is a redraw problem with kapi, and that it may be the cause of  the constant cpu usage.

Maybe someone could try do debug/talk with zautrix about that.

I'm using ROX pinboard with Matchbox & KAPI opens in minimized state (icon on desktop), which explains why Alt+Tab is needed to open the window.

Thanks for compiling the newer version!

Cheers,
Jerry

Yes, can I echo my thanks for this!  I have successfully migrated my outlook contacts to Ka/pi, however ko/pi calendar is proving more problematic.

I'm using Memorystick Ko/pi to import my outlook calendar file, then attempting to synchronise with that on the Zaurus.  It syncs, says that 230 items will be added, then on "write back" it just crashes with a segmentation fault.

Any ideas how I can trace this and help the developers?
Thanks!
