This is on a SL-C3000:
When the charger is plugged in, the battery light starts flashing and then the machine switches off. If it is switched off before charging is attempted, it seems to charge up the battery ok, and the charger works fine with an 860.
Any ideas as to the source of the problem, and/or a fix? A forum search threw up a few mentions of a blinking light but not much more info.
Thanks,
James

Maybe the charger does not provide enough current? I think the manual says the C300 needs at least 800mA. If the current is too low, the Zaurus may give charging a higher priority and charges the battery, but switches itself off in order to make the current go into the battery.

I agree it sounds a bit like a charger problem, but the problem occurs when plugged in via a USB port and we have 2 original identical Sharp chargers (came with 860 and 3000)...so the fault has to be in the machine itself.

Same problem with SL-6000. Diags menus say, that I have 8V on battery. Seems really strange.

I am not sure my Zaurus 5500 does the same thing, but won't boot, I am wondering if the shared implication of Sharp Zaurus was a flashing battery light means the battery has used its last charge and can't retain any power?

Well the problem never went away so the 3000 just went back to the shop. Hopefully we'll get it back in 3 weeks.

Have you checked and cleaned battery contacts?
Because if contact is weak, then not enough voltage will be directed to batt.
