Title: Fonts For Qtopia
Post by: eviLjazz on October 20, 2005, 10:46:00 pm
Hey everybody,

I've put up two new fonts for Qtopia on my blog.
Basically it's an unhinted version of the Trebuchet font included with Cacko and an unhinted and converted version of Calibri:

Here is a comparison:

I've posted part 2 on my blog. It deals with tweaking the free DejaVu (http://dejavu.sourceforge.net/) Sans font: http://katastrophos.net/andre/blog/?p=16 (http://katastrophos.net/andre/blog/?p=16)

Also, part 1 did get an update: http://katastrophos.net/andre/blog/?p=15 (http://katastrophos.net/andre/blog/?p=15)

Regards,
Andre

bam: all you need is makeqpf and access to framebuffer (real one or Qvfb) - there are many howtos on net.

http://www.hrw.one.pl/_pliki/oe/files/ (http://www.hrw.one.pl/_pliki/oe/files/)

grab qpf-*.tar.bz2 archives and you will get some fonts for usage with Qtopia.

I've got them install, they look real good, till you rotate the screen.  Then they turn into a pixlated mess.

The rotated font set is probably missing. You will need extra qpf files with the t10 bits in the filename. See [a href=\"http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/custom.html#fonts]http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/custom.html#fonts[/url]

hello,

barryw seems to have similar problems. if i use thick fonts in appearance
i get also messy fonts. for instance, can anyone explain the i's and t's etc.
in the below file names? are there differences with respect to the used os
or zaurus model?

dejavusans_100_50i.qpf
dejavusans_100_50i_t10.qpf
dejavusans_100_50i_t15.qpf
dejavusans_100_50i_t5.qpf
dejavusans_100_50.qpf
dejavusans_100_50_t10.qpf
dejavusans_100_50_t15.qpf
dejavusans_100_50_t5.qpf
dejavusans_100_75i.qpf
dejavusans_100_75i_t10.qpf
dejavusans_100_75i_t15.qpf
dejavusans_100_75i_t5.qpf
dejavusans_100_75.qpf
dejavusans_100_75_t10.qpf
dejavusans_100_75_t15.qpf

I knew thick fonts didn't work, wasn't too worried about that just yet, the eye doctor makes me stop at 20/5!  I'll check out the rotated font part.

i = italic, t# = rotated

No difference between Zaurus models.

fontname_SIZE_BOLDFLAGi_tROTATION.qpf

SIZE = 10 * fontsize
BOLDFLAG = 50 - normal
BOLDFLAG = 75 - bold
i = italic
t5 - 90°
t10 - 180°
t15 - 270°

under 2.4 kernel most Zauruses are 270° rotated

I know this is a very old post, and I have already made some custom fonts for my Cacko C3100 Zaurus.
My question is, how do I convert Adobe type 1 fonts to QPF for Qtopia?

I have 2 of my most favorite fonts, but these are Adobe type 1

"Brushscript"
BS______.PFM
BS______.PFB

"Shelley Allegro Script"
SHAL______.PFM
SHAL______.PFB
