I've got a second-hand c3000 two weeks ago. The inside microdrive was replaced by a Sandisk Ultra II CF(2gb). So the warranty was void. When I got this device, its LCD had minor problems. It I opened the LCD and pushed it to the end (180 degrees to the keyboard), its backlight would cease. The backlight would come back if I pushed it toward the keyboard to a positon about 90 degrees. I thought it was not a problem. But recently, the situation became worse and worse. If I open the lcd screen, the backlight would come up as usual. However, the backlight would cease if the degree between lcd and keyboard was larger than 60 degrees. I suspected that something was wrong when the internal microdrive was replaced. I am no expert in this and have no clues at all. Hope someone could give me some suggestions.

it sounds like one of the ribbion cables is loose on the borad as they are right next to the microdrive
i would pull it open again and see if any cable slides out easily, if it does you have to push it back in and push 2 tabs on ethier side of the connector back in with a screw driver (if its lose you should find out what i mean farily quickly)

Thanks for your reply. I tried to open it again. When I looked at the ribbion cable next to the microdrive, it seemed to be connected tightly. I still tried to push the two tabs up and pushed the cable back in. Then I pushed the two tabs back to secure the cable. But this time things got worse. The LCD would turn the backlight on when I rotated it by 180 degrees and push it back to the keyboard. I thought the cable played an important part, but I didn't know how to check. Are there any figures for me to reference?

it definatly sounds to me like somthing is lose or the cable might me damadged, you might want to check to see if there is and kinks to the cable or any minor scrapes as those cables cant take muctch, also check for tears
if it is brokken you might have to wip out a soldering iorn to fix it
this is all i can think of, mabey if you could provide some pics i might see somthing thats wrong with it
