Title: wireless/kismet/dns sl-5600
Post by: Anonymous on February 08, 2004, 12:07:12 pm
Hi,
Ive noticed some strange behavior with wireless connection

1. At work, had some probs connecting to the outside ap , altogether. I removed the essid to make it general , it found it and connected. The one I put in was correct.

2. I had deleted my home connection. I readded it , but couldnt resolve sites. I then shutdown, rebooted and it worked. Is this required after doing a register on a new connection?

3. To use kismet, do you have to have an active wireless connection at the time?  I didnt show any packets when I fired up kismet, until I connected to my ap. Thought kismet does passive scans of wireless packets it sees to determine which aps are active, but didnt know you had to be connected at the time.

Thanks
Greg

1/2:  I\'ve been having the same problems.  I can\'t figure out what it is.  What kind of wireless card do you have?

3:  Set this up for kismet: http://www.timekiller.org/howtos/kismet-5600.html (http://www.timekiller.org/howtos/kismet-5600.html)

I\'ve noticed that my card will be running perfectly fine, and I\'ll disconnect from my Apartment lan and run kismet, and then after that things get all screwed up.

Do you know if that little globe applet that connects dumps any debug information anywhere?
