Title: Cacko Video Playback Sooo Goood - Some Cacko ?'s
Post by: flyguy on November 01, 2005, 01:49:31 am
The best I've seen yet!!  Cacko is great maslovsky.

Questions:

Where can I find a good instant messenger (GAIM?)?

Can I run X/QT on my C1000 w/ cacko?

what do i need to do to make doom work?

Can someone compile Links with the graphics option enabled (this would be a very good browser)?

Thanks,

Louis

- GAIM is on the cacko feed -> install it and it works

- X/QT works - at least on my C3100

- doom is also on the cacko feed. I have not tried it, but would expect it works...

i found the problem was that I installed it on SD card, and apparently it is not happy there.

- I personally tested XQt from the feed, and Meanie's Jumbo package.  Both work fine on a C1k.  Abiword and Grisbi wouldn't run, but they had dependency issues that I did not address.  Even Meanie's repackaged Abiword failed.  But X itself launches and runs just fine, and Gimp works, and Ethereal.  I didn't try anything else, but I'm essentially convinced that as long as there are no dependency issues with the installation, anything X/Qt will work fine.
- I installed Doom on RC10 and it locked up the Z, but I've since read some config tweaks that are needed, which I haven't tried.  They may easily address the issue.  Search the forum for info on these tweaks.  That's what I did ... they're there.
- I installed Quake and it ran, but it wouldn't accept keyboard input.  I haven't researched it.  The demo seemed to run *very* smoothly, though.  (grin)
- Be sure nothing runs with "Magnified Display" set.  It will ultimately mess things up in Cacko, which is a well-known issue.
