Title: Difference Between Sl5000d And The Sl5500
Post by: plo2000 on November 02, 2005, 08:32:06 pm
Hi, I  was wondering which is better to buy SL 5000D or SL 5500?  I know the only hardware difference is the ram memory but is there any bugs in the sl5000D that makes the  sl5500 a better buy?? They have a sl5000D selling on ebay, I dont know if its worh it?

Thanks

Other than lower RAM, it's harder to find roms for than the 5500, in particular, the latest Sharp rom doesn't appear to be on the net for the 5000D.

go 5500. It gives you more room to do anything fun on(ssh, ftp, etc.). 32MB is really small, unless you are doing only PIM stuff

The software that works on a sl-5500 does it work on the sl-5000D?

I would assume so, so long as you'd be using the same ROM. I don't know, I don't own a 5000D, just a 5500

Yes, the two are identical bar the difference in RAM, however you may run into lack-of-RAM issues.

I'd be tempted to go for one of those $100 refurb'd 5500s if I were you.
