Title: New jobs board:
Post by: LordDavon on February 09, 2004, 04:54:12 pm
I asked OffRoadGeek to create this forum for those of use that are in the community and know of good technical jobs that fellow Z users may need.

I for one am looking for work in the US.  As well, I know Pentad has been looking.

If you know of positions in your area, feel free to post them here.  You never know who may apply.  ;-)

Bumping this to keep eyes on it.  I know that many people want to be the only Z users in the office (due to the whole cool-geek effect), but hey... someone else is bound to get on too.  :-P

Thank you for supporting the effort.

Just in case someone has a specific skill set and wants to move to New England, I am always in the job boards and can post things in your skill sets.  Just let me know what those skills are.

I work for an Accounting firm, but I do risk assessments (IT security).  I\'m more of a high-level guy - at least that\'s my role - but I\'ll check with our HR regarding the information risk management group if you\'re interested in reading the job description.

Certainly.  Even if I am not, there may be others here (not posting) that are.

I\'ll post anything I come across, although they\'re likely to require security clearance (and therefore US citizenship).

Oh sure.  Looking at your email address, you already have about 15 copies of my resume.  ;-)

Oh.  In case someone actually does look, I am specifically targeting Peoplesoft Project Management (Supply Chain or Financials), Peoplesoft Development (SQR, App Engine, Peoplecode, Peopletools, App Designer, etc...) or Production Support Management (This includes Global Helpdesk Operations).

I work at Gap Inc, (I\'m actually a Project Manager in Supply Chain IT) and here are three jobs I found on our site... I can find out more internal details when I return to work tomorrow (ie. which dept. specifically, if I know the hiring manager, etc.).

Sr. Manager IT (http://www.gapinc.com/careers/opportunities/jobdetail.asp?type=s&jobid=ERSR-311070)
Manager, Finance Essbase Systems (http://www.gapinc.com/careers/opportunities/jobdetail.asp?type=s&jobid=ERSR-401083)
Project Manager, Global Compliance (http://www.gapinc.com/careers/opportunities/jobdetail.asp?type=s&jobid=ERSR-402051)

None of them may be a perfect fit, but it is three open jobs!

If you (or anyone) would like to apply for any of them, just let me know... I could provide an internal referral.

there are a few openings in the company that has bought over a division of our company (i am involved right now in the transitioning process and thus interact with both companies).

There are quite a few  (http://jobs.statestreet.com/jobs/ssjobs.nsf/AllByFunction?Openview&RestrictToCategory=~Information%20Technology&Count=999)- from Security analyst to developers and many more, so take your pick. They have recently suffered a huge loss in manpower due to some VR layoff scheme and now need to quickly staff up again (quite a change from the companies who are still laying off).

Most are in Quincy, Boston and some in California, hope that works out ok for you all.

Do you have any of the HR titles you can post or the languages they deal with?

I guess it's not a fulltime position or even anything but resume' pad.  But i'm willing to sponsor a project equivalent to cost of retail purchase of medical software. (for zaurus)  Most software outthere runs about 2-500bucks per liscense per year.  So lemme know if anybody is interested,  any result has got to be copyleft.

on another note heres a link on the more serious job seekers,
http://www.manugistics.com/ (http://www.manugistics.com/)

one of my close friends has been working with these guys a few years...  I'll ask him about job availability.  Supply chain managment, he loves sun and java so i imagine lots of opportunities for the stereotypical admin linux guy.

Another super linux guru type guy i know works for http://www.synectics.com (http://www.synectics.com).
Mostly jobs in chicago, if you love pizza, indian food, art and happening music scene...  they seem to have a few openings with linux experience being a plus.
love chicago
