Hello all,
I have a c1000 with an ea-bl11 battery. 5 weeks ago i left my z with low charge at my work and forgot it for 5 weeks. Came back, wouldnt light up, so i plugged it in the power charge, the thing light up for 20s then stopped, i started getting worried.
I tried pluging it back in but it lit up only for 10s, tried agian, 5s, and again 2s then nothing, no more lighting up... Took my Voltmeter, measured 2.7V... sounded normal for a totally discharged battery.
Worried i read some old oesf posts and found that letting the battery discharge out of the z could help. so i took it out and left it like that for 16 hours.
When i came back early to test it, it litteraly said 0V, nothing whatsoever...
Even more worried i tried everything, until i put it back in the z, and put back the charger where it did the 20s light, then 10 after unplug and replug, then 5 then 2 then nothing, and again 2.65V.
What am i supposed to do?
I heard that charging the z's battery outside of the z could help but i have no idea on how to do this. There's 3 connectors on it and i dont know what voltage/amp to put on it...
If anyone has a clue i'd like to know.

Put the battery in the Zaurus and let it charge for a few hours. Light or no light.
Don't do the plug-unplug-plug routine on it.
I think there is an internal bettery which trickle charges, and once that charges up, then the external battery starts charging. So it may be that reason.

been trying it but no light, nothing so far(been 8 hours now)
if i press the power button then the power led lights up for a few s then disappears...
should i try something else or still leave it plugged

You can "deep discharge" a battery - and in that case a regular charger may not be able to recharge it.
It may be totally dead.
You maybe lucky, and maybe a high end professional charger ( I have one for my RC cars - its costs $200 and requires a powerful stabilized power supply ) could revive it...
Ask around, maybe you have a friend who has a high end RC car charger, which can also charge Lithium cells ( mine can )...

is there any fast to send z battery seller around in eu that has decent prices?
Also what voltage is supposed to be used to charge the battery?
EDIT: i just looked and it seems li-ion batteries can indeed die... im surprised theres no protection mechanism for these though... i have had so many li-ion batteries and none ever died so suddenly even after really tough discharges...
some pages talked of pulse charging or something like that....
NOTE: is there any warranty on the z batteries? i bought mine in japan and i can send it back to my family there maybe for warranty if it has any warranty, the z is only 3 months old...

Seems to me that your battery actually died of undercharger ... this may occur sometimes, but trying to start the zaurus five times in a row wans't exactly a good idea.
According to http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-12.htm (http://www.batteryuniversity.com/partone-12.htm) on batteryuniversity, a battery can die if it reaches 2.5V, but you can actually restore it with specific chargers.
Batteries are usually not covered by warranties and zaurus makes no exception. If you want tu buy a new battery, you may consier purchasing a 2000mAh high capacity battery @ lion (see the thread in "Accessories" forum), international shipping being $9. EA-BL08 on amazon being the best value for money around... or you may try to build your own battery (a PSP battery is a good start). Good luck !

thanks guy, ill be looking for a new battery then, any suggestion for a place to buy a bl08 that sends to europe?

I could build you one (with about 3000mAh) for 80 Euro (with shipping). If you don't like it, you send it back and get the money back!

okay
giving some more info since i solved my problem.
Just in case someone ever gets the same trouble:
the battery wasnt dead.
everything failed... Exept when i plugged in my brand new ea-70 charger...
suddenly it would charge and it's working perfectly fine now.
So:
1. do not use any charger other than ea-70 i guess... or something at 5V-2A(max)
2. 5V and 1A wont be enough in some cases
3. 4.5V or 5.5V wont work either(didnt break mine, but didnt help)
4. batteries dont die that easily:)(and i'm happy of that)
5. always charge your z well:)
NOTE: for 2), my original zaurus 5V-1A charger wouldnt work, neither did my dell 5V-2A which would work perfectly fine before

Or use a Sony PSP charger - works great too! ( but it has to be an "original" SONY charger, not one "made for PSP)

I can't resist but I think this has been stated by us and TRIsoft many, many, many times. All of our Zaurus units are shipped with a EA-70 its not because we enjoy having to keep 100's of these in stock it is because we don't want people having to return there units for warranty repairs.
