Any new news?  Things are awful quiet for a Feb 15 release...

The fact that the entire product is so hush hush it makes me wonder whether it\'ll even hit the market. If it does I would really like to see one of these things in person.

Nah.  Sharp did the same \"Hush. Hush.\" thing with the release of the SL-5600 last year.  They made no real announcements about the release until it was basically upon us.

Having said that, I\'ve contacted one U.S. vendor who is currently in talks with Sharp about the SL-6000.  They said that the release is about a few weeks away with \"quantity in mid-March\"...

just noticed something interesting.  While i was translating the keyhelper page in babelfish, i noticed a heading with Amazon and SL-6000 in it.  I figured what the heck and clicked the link. Amazon.co.jp is advertising the
SL-6000 W for 82,934 yen or ~$786.00US.
SL-6000 L  for 78,074 yen or ~$740.00US
SL-6000 N for 71,828 yen or ~$681.00US

If it was just some site i would be leary, but this is amazon!  hmmm....its gotta be getting close to release!

Those links only let you place advance orders.  They haven\'t received their shipment yet.

I figured as much, but the fact that they published prices, IMO, was more intruiging.

Wasnt the SL-6000 supposed to only be realeased in the US?

I\'ve never trusted Amazon\'s ability to predict release dates. They are rarely based on substantiated information.

I heard from the vendor I mentioned earlier:  The SL-6000 will be available in about 2 weeks from today.  This isn\'t really news, but I was told they\'ll try to put up a pre-order page within the next two business days.

I was also told that the cost will be $699.  I don\'t know for which model.  It wasn\'t mentioned, but I\'ve asked.

Here\'s hoping that\'s the SL-6000W price...

I just heard from the vendor again and this was the comment:

We will carry the 6000N, and possibly the L. I do not believe that the
6000W will be offered at the same time as the others.

When I questioned this, I received:

Doh! I meant we will carry the L (with 802.11b), and possibly the N. Sorry.

So, it seems that the SL-6000W will not be offered when the other two models are released.    Since I didn\'t get an answer to which one costs what and they are only planning to carry the SL-6000L, I can assume that they will be charging $699 for that model...
