I\'ve tried searching all over and I can\'t find what\'s wrong.
Yesterday, my WiFi card on my Zaurus 5600 was working perfectly fine. It connected and all was well. Then it randomly just stopped working, and I have no idea why.
All is set up fine. I even ended up reflashing completely to no avail. I tried the card on the other Zaurus 5600 and it wouldn\'t work there either. It\'s an AmbiCom WL1100C card.
I thought maybe it\'s the router, so I tried one of my USB Wireless plugs in my computer and that one connected fine.
Has anyone ever had this problem before? It says \'Initiating\' and the green light turns solid on the WiFi card, but then it stops there. I\'m thinking maybe it\'s a DNS problem?
Thanks for any help.

I think it\'s because I am missing my dhcpd.conf file in the /etc folder.
Is there any chance someone could post their copy of this file for me?

ok so after hours of searching, i\'ve realized there\'s an actual WEP bug.. can anyone point me in the direction to possibly fix this? thanks :/

Hey DZ, I have the same problem - wireless works randomly. Sometimes it connects, sometimes it doesn\'t. There are references to doing this to fix it, but it hasn\'t worked for me. Of course, I just got my Z and I don\'t really know the OS very well yet.
turn on WEP encryption at the command line:
iwconfig wlan0 key s:my_key

Not sure how related this is but when I had my 5500. Sometimes wireless would work, sometimes it wouldn\'t. VERY annoying. I never did find a resolution and very soon got tired of the device and sold it (for another reason though).

Tired of it??? Holy #$&@!, what does it take to keep you interested? I\'ve been using linux for almost 10 years and it still keeps me learning and trying something new.

I don\'t know if it is the same problem I am experiencing, but it is indeed very annoying. I have just bought a 5500 and a symbol wifi cf. It initially worked perfectly after having installed the driver (with Sharp 3.13 ROM), but then suddenly it stopped working. I am not able to see the little \"globe\" anymore and the wifi card just shows up as a normal cf-card-icon. When I open Opera the little connection-pop-up screen is emtpy, wheras it used to say something about TC/IP before. I have tried to re-install everything and then it started working again for a few hours. I have also tried to delete/re-add the Network settings, but no luck so far. Does anyone perhaps have an idea about a possible solution?
Thanks a lot,
Jeppe

i\'m wondering if possibly i burned out the wifi card?

Help! I have now played around with the thing for several hours and I still cannot get it to connect to the internet. It worked yesterday but suddenly stopped. I have a SL5500 and run Sharp 3.13 with Symbol cf wifi. I have the driver installed. The little \"globe-thing\" is missing in the icon bar and the card doesn\'t send \"beem signals\" from it either. Instead the cf card just shows up as a normal cf card. In Settings-]Network-]Current it just says \"No connection defined\". Does anyone have an idea?
Best regards,
Jeppe

This might be a bit stupid, but i am wondering if the card works for a couple of hours and then stops working, can it be because your battery has gone low?
-
It is not the battery in my case. I am playing with it directly from the craddle and it is fully powered up. I have just made a full reset and reinstalled all the apps and now there is no problem connecting to the internet. I really hope it stays like that.

I turned of DHCP and it fixed the problem, i hate DHCP it seems to be the source of many problems!
