hi all
I am very impressed with new z. but in all reviews that I have read, ppl say that beware z is for geeks! why a powerful PDA should be for geeks?
is any book you recommend to read in order to understand basics of linux?
is anyway to use z to read medical references availale for Palm?

i don\'t want to start a war but this is my personal experience.
I owned an Old Casi BOSS in 1997 and this was good, normally used it to store personal references (phones, cards, notes, names, etc). Then on 1999 i get one Palm III and in 2001 a PalmVx.
On 2002 i get my first Zaurii since they (sharp) don\'t sell it on Mexico and i need to wait to get one from a friend until he go to US. Zaurii was awesome for me (more unix experienced).
I give to my brother (luser) the Palm Vx and he don\'t have any problem with that. I gave him my Zaurii and i take only 10 minuts to go back to the Palm Vx because (in his own words) \'the Zaurus is awesome but do more than i need\'.
As i can see if you want a PDA only for basic PIM stuff then don\'t chose Zaurus. If you want to get some knowldge on the way and test a powerfull tool (not a PDA, a Personal Mobile Tool) then Zaurus is the best.
By the way I HATE THE WINCE Pda\'s.

Firstly welcome to the wonderfull world of unix/linux, and props for picking the best pda/pmt in the meridan of chocies available. I think you will find your \"Z\" will do almost anything, given patience of course.
As for linux, there are many books out there, loads of web guides and heaps of good advice can be found here on the Zaurus user group. Don\'t be frightened of linux, just dive-in and learn, it can be tough but you will really begin to do stuff you could never imagine after a while.

My fav book that I use almost daily is \"Linux in a Nut Shell\" 4th Edition from O\'Reilly. IMHO this is probably one of the most comprehensive Linux books on the market.

As a fellow Linux newbie, I recommend yet another O\'Reillly book. I\'m sure that \"Linux in a Nutshell\" is good, but for getting started, I found \"Running Linux\" to be very helpful. It has a sequential, teaching-oriented approach instead of the usual \"Desktop Reference\" approach normally given by O\'Reilly \"Nutshell\" books. I have bought and used many O\'Relly \"Nutshell\" books, though, and I think I may go buy the one which was just mentioned.
Just an additional recommendation.

Linux Newbie, owner of Z-SL-5600. I\'m almost done writing a text editor from scratch with Python on it, I think. I wasn\'t happy with the way other text editors were designed for desktops.

It\'s worth having a look at The Linux Cookbook.
The full book is available for free.
It gives lots of examples of how to do things with Linux.

For System Administration, I like this book. Very readable.
