Title: Usbnet Crashing Desktop
Post by: jgrauman on November 25, 2005, 01:04:49 pm
Hi,

I haven't been able to find this problem anywhere on the forum, but if it's been addressed please direct me... I'm running slackware 10.1 on my desktop and pdaXrom RC12 on my zaurus. Very often, when I plug in my zaurus via usb to my desktop, or even start or stop usb networking on the zaurus, my PC crashes (completely freezes up, can't do anything). It only does it when the zaurus is set on usb networking, not when its set to mount the CF or SD cards. Any ideas how to fix this, the less work the better, I'm sure upgrading the kernel would fix it... I'm running 2.4.29 on the PC. Thanks.

Josh

It sounds a bit like an interrupt problem on the PC. Check yr bios settings and ensure that there's an interrupt allocated to the USB system. If possible, free up interrupts by disabling one or both serial ports and the parallel port. Try and ensure that as few things share interrupts as possible.
