I have a C3000 and a C860, should I replace the kernal, per these instructions?
Special Kernal (http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://tetsu.homelinux.org/zaurus/kernel/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dc3000%2Bupdater%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D)
(Also, are the english translations enough or is there some non-translated info that is critical)

That's the Tetsu kernel. Its already been incorporated into the latest Cacko ROM.
If you just want to apply the kernel onto the original Sharp ROM without flashing to Cacko, search this forum for the guide by polito.
edit: it goes without saying, you should do a nand backup before you proceed.

I have the C-3000....is it part of the Cacko 123 Beta ?

yes an older version of the tetsu kernel is part of the Cacko C3kb1 Rom. There is a topic that covers installing the newest version of tetsu kernel using the beta rom. I believe it is version 18a or something.
