Title: How To Type Japanese Names
Post by: ludo on December 16, 2005, 02:46:50 am
Hi,

On windows, when you switch to the japanese input method, you have different options, one of them being "names". That means when you type [span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\']つねさぶろ[/span] you get [span style=\'font-size:14pt;line-height:100%\']常三郎[/span] by pressing the space bar.
The zaurus (mine is the C3K) allows to key in kanji but there is not at all the kanji I want. Is there also an option to input names or places on the zaurus?

Thanks

The Zaurus IME isn't as sophisticated as Microsoft IME (or ATOK) but you can still get the name kanjis by using a Japanese propername dictionary.

I use the ENAMDICT from here: http://www.hloeffler.info/zaurus/ (http://www.hloeffler.info/zaurus/)
running on Ztenv.

With ENAMDICT, inputting つねさぶろう (not つねさぶろ)  I get 恒三郎、常三郎、常三朗.

Hi Rokugo,

You are right, for the correct hirakanna, I forgot the う。
Thanks for the advice. I'll try to install ENAMDICT on my C3000.
