Hello, I'll be going to Japan next week, and I'll be sure to drop by an electronic store to get myself a brand new, or second-hand SL-C3000 or 3100.
I was wondering, what accessories does both models include in the retail box ? Do they both include an AC adaptor, USB sync cable and USB host cable ?
Should I be purchasing any accessories out there, or should I simply come back to Canada and buy accessories from out here ?
Thanks!

c3000 don't include usb host cable in the original box
it include an installation and manual CD, a usb sync cable, an AC adaptator (for Japan), and an operation manual (in Japanese of course)

Thanks for the reply ThC,
I have a down converter AC plug that basically allows me to plug 100v devices in 120v power outlets. Would you assume it's save to charge this way, using the supplied power adaptor from the box?

Yes, the host cable is a must. They're so difficult to find outside of Japan.
You might also want to get a better stylus (the Pentopia) and an extra screen protector.
And perhaps a replacement C1000 cover in case you get tired of white or gray
If you're heading down to Tokyo, there's a shop in Akihabara that specialises in Zaurus accessories:

Location map (at the bottom right corner is Akihabara Station) http://www.wolf.ne.jp/tokyo.html (http://www.wolf.ne.jp/tokyo.html)
Its easy to miss the shop though, since its on the 6th floor of a very narrow building sandwiched between two much larger ones (if I remember it correctly).
If you don't speak Japanese it might be a good idea to print out the stuff you want from the webpage.

You can find the Host cable on the iriver website for about USD 10.- shipped...

Correction then: "They're so difficult to find outside of the US and Japan".

Thanks Rokugo,
My wife is Japanese, so I won't have any trouble with communicating, even though I know some myself. Thanks for the advice, I was actually planning on going to Akihabara, and I'll be sure to check that store. Hopefully, I'll get all of those accessories in the same shop.

The store that we get our Zaurii from is a place called Nani wa Denki - it's consistently one of the cheapest places to find them. I just had a friend pick up my brand new 3100 for 530,000Y (about $513 CAN). The branch we go to is in Osaka, though. Not sure if there's one in the Tokyo region.
The pentopia stylus is nice. I wanted my friend to pick another up for me, but he couldn't find one
The 3100 comes with a world power adapter, so you don't have to worry about it. I've never had a problem using the 100v adapters here in Canada, and I've had 5 or 6 of them.
As for the host cables, I've finally found them for sale here in Canada - Both the goldx and some no-name. They were both at the "Source", AKA Circuit City - what used to be our Radio Shacks.

Sooo many cool accessories.. I want them all!!

If you can find an iRiver store then you can get their usb host cable for about 500 yen in Akihabara (also in Osaka, Shinjuku and any other major Japanese town)

Don't know the part number - They were the multi-end USB "kits" that happened to include a 5-pin mini-USB A connector. There was Gold-x, and a generic kit that came in 3, 6, and 9 foot versions (and had a bonus 3ft cable in the box). The cheapest generic one was ~$30CAN. I later saw the same kit at Best Buy.
That being said, I like my iRiver adapters better

Well, if that's the case, I'll just order one from one of our friends here ...
