Title: Linux Based Psp Alternative?
Post by: rollfaster on December 30, 2005, 09:36:27 pm
Check out this, it was on Digg's rss feed:

Looks like a pretty cool little device.

Seems like nobody knows of the emulation capabilities of our fair Z's. But the article says dual core processor for a linux handheld? Maybe something to look into...

I checked out the product website (importer) and it looks good. Sounds like the specs of a Z, maybe a better proc, and all emulators are SDL based, go fig. Go check it out and let me know what you think.

Cool stuff.

- I haven't seen what the processor speed is on this thing, though it does look like a nice feature set for a low price.
- Personally I'd gladly pay twice that for CF as well as SD, plus built-in WiFi, at least twice the Flash, at least twice the RAM, & at least a 4" display.  Three times that if the display were over 4" at 800x600, and it had a slide-out keyboard, or a clamshell design.
- Definitely an interesting unit, if nothing else.

But 3x that price is only the cost of a 3100

Since the last time this was discussed on OESF, I haven't seen any leap forwards that make me want to rush out and buy - in fact, the PSP despite being more expensive would more likely get my money, provided I could get one which had the hackable ROM image (wlan with WPA is a key feature).

I'm still hoping a C3200 will appear with built-in bluetooth or wlan one day.
