Title: Installing Pdaxrom On Sl-5500
Post by: sentinel on January 07, 2006, 09:26:47 am
Hi,

I  have hesitated about installing pdaXrom on my SL-5500 until I am confident that I am doing the steps correctly.

The instructions on the pdaXrom website state:

# Extract the 3 files - initrd.bin tools.tar updater.sh - to the root of your CF or SD/MMC card.

However, I can't seem to locate the tools.tar and updater.sh files from the downloads within the 5000/5500 directory.

I don't want to assume anything - should I just flash the initrd.bin / zImage combination, just like other ROMS ?

Thanks.
Neil.

Hi,
First you can make sure if the download is complete by checking the md5sum.
After extracting the archive all the three parts, initrd.bin, tools.tar, updater.sh, must be put in the root of your card.  Flashing just cannot proceed without any one of these.
Sorry for repetition. Hope this helps.

Well, I had my 5000D flashed with the PdaXrom for a bit and going back where I keep the old ROM files I only see initrd.bin and zImage, so I think that is all you need.

Oh stupid me.  Sorry for meddling with the question.  Haven't read this thread and was assuming things are just the same (coz mine are clamshells):
