Title: Cacko & Different Aps
Post by: Mjolinor on January 07, 2006, 05:48:24 pm
Is there an app that will allow me to list APs and connect to the one I need.

I want to use my 860 to configure some Linux systems via SSH. Each of the boxes that need configuring is accessed via it's own access point so I need to be able to list them and connect to a specific one.

There may be as many as 10 APs visible at any one time.

In my experience,  the network configuration app in OZ/Opie allows for this with much more ease than wellenweiter or kismet under cacko.

I have kismet on and it works well but AFAIK it doesn't do what I want, I'm probably missing something.

The one that came with Cacko just allows you to set up different profiles which won't do what I need either. All the APs have the same SSID when first powered so I have to log in, check the MAC then change the SSID accordingly then repeat for all the APs. After that I can log into the one I want knowing which is which from the SSID.

Is the OZ network configuration util different to the one that came with Cacko?

I normally select it, connect then use Putty for the sessions, I haven't found that for the Cacko ROM yet either.

In OZ/Opie you can scan for available AP's right in the network configuration tool,  click on the one you want, and connect.  much easier than creating seperate profiles.
