I’ve been reading that the 4g hd in the c3100 comes with only 2g free and if u use your Z for some time u and up having 500mb free space! My question…
My installation of Gentoo Linux in my laptop takes about 3-4g (without the portage distfiles) and it has almost everything! Multimedia, Office, Network tools etc..
Is this comparable with the installation of pdaXrom for example ( I have read that pdaX is more of a X env and less a pda...) If my installation on Z takes 3g it will have more or less the same stuff?
I know that if I use OpenBSD (Im fun/user since 2.8) I can feet everything I want in the HD. But the other and more mature roms ?
Thanx,

You can fit pretty much all the apps you want in 4g. (And then you can use things like squasfs images to compress some part of the filesystem if you really need more than that)
Zaurus distributions tends to be smaller than normal desktop once because things like documentation are removed.
.
Now if you also want to store mp3 videos, large dics....

Hey.. I dont want to store media files I had this question about the free space because I thought that only 2 out of 4g free space with Sharp ROM ( full PDA) is less than normal!

Depending on what rom you use you can format the full space out or partition as you like also. The zaurus comes shipped with about 1.5gig of programs from japan, that is why you start with only half the space free.

The Japanese ROM has maps and a Japanese to English dictionary. With OZ/GPE on my C1000 I have a video player, mp3 player, abiword, and all the PIM stuff and I haven't filled my 128MB of onboard flash. In fact, I have 60MB free. I was messing around with firefox and I still had free space even when it was installed. This leaves my 1GB SD card to hold mp3s and video files (and to give me a swap file). It also leaves my CF slot to be free for wireless at all times.
