Title: new keyhelper config
Post by: raybert on February 13, 2004, 08:08:25 pm
keyhelper is awesome!  I especially love the ability to switch between running apps (it\'s been on my wish list for a long time).

The common set-up for this that is floating around the net uses Shift+Home to switch apps, Shift+Menu to switch apps using the app list, and Home+HotKey to launch apps (via keyhelper.conf).

I didn\'t like this use of the Home and Menu keys.  The problem is that keyhelper doesn\'t suppress the normal functionality of these keys when using them for task switching/launching and that made the operation a bit messy.

So I experimented with an alternate keyboard layout for these functions and came up with something I like quite a lot.

First off, this is for clamshell Z\'s only (I\'m using a C860).

As most of you know, there are two Japanese keys on the left side of the keyboard, just to the right of the FN key.  I\'ve dubbed these keys Jap#1 (leftmost) and Jap#2 (rightmost).

Most folks who are using keyhelper have probably already mapped Jap#1 as a control key.  This is also a common keyhelper config that\'s floating around.  I\'ve done this too and wouldn\'t change it (I also made it sticky--sticky Shift, Ctrl, and FN rule).

My new keyboard layout relies only on Jap#2.  The new keys are:
Code: [Select]

enjoy...
