Howdy,
I change ROMS like underwear, but I have finally settled OZ 3.3.5. (for now) I use linux at home but XP at work.
Anyway, I cannot get any of the cards to show up in the file manager or the console. I have a couple of CF memory cards, a Pretec CompactLAN 10Mb network card and a Linksys WCF12 as well as a kingston 128 MB sd card.
The network cards identify themselves correctly both in the gui as well as cardctl ident but ifconfig only shows me loopback and the gui network properties will not keep a static IP.
I have read that I need to swap the hotplug with the stable one which is no biggie except I can\'t see the ipk when they are on the cards. So I could just sync it. Except because of my brilliance dimming the light of the sun, I left my cradle at work.
I had read a post on the Zuarus Dev board about using commands to manually recognize the cards but the Dev board is down.
So... does anyone know those commands because I don\'t want to completely waste this snow day.

P.S. Its a 5500, and the cf memory cards are generic CompUSA but they have worked before with tkc, as well as OZ 3.2.

For my CF memory cards, I had to modify /etc/pcmcia/config, and replace all instances of bind \"ide-cs\" to bind \"ide_cs\", but I thought that was because I\'m running my own kernel instead of one of the stock ones OZ ones.
As for the wireless card, just edit /etc/pcmcia/network and /etc/pcmcia/wireless with the appropriate values.

Try manually mounting the cards (mount /dev/hda1 /mnt/cf, etc.) and see what it says.

Hey, on the main page to the left is the link to the Dev boards. Hey, and scroll down the main page there is a big story about how on the left is a link to the mirrors. Hey, and OZ has a file called ReadMe.First. http://www.openzaurus.org/official/3.3.5/c...ie/README.FIRST (http://www.openzaurus.org/official/3.3.5/collie/README.FIRST)
Now I don\'t know if this will solve my problem, but this was what I was looking for. So thanks for the Ideas and I will be back.

truxpin555:
you change ROMs like underwear... how does this affect the apps and data saved on your zaurus? do you restore from backup with each change, or does the changing the rom leave the home directory alone?
New to the linux and the zaurus, trying to figure out what I will do next.
Thanks

\"do you restore from backup with each change, or does the changing the rom leave the home directory alone?\" hmmm, I would assume this would be relevant to where your home directory is placed, RAM, SD, etc. I really haven\'t played with this setup to much. sorry.
When I changed OZ ROMs most of my applications are loaded to my SD card and on the open zaurus faq there is a command that relinks them. http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=204 (http://www.openzaurus.org/oz_website/faq/faq?id=204) I couldn\'t get anything to synch with the Sharp ROMs or thier derivatives, so I abandoned those pretty quick.
Most of my data is created on a PC and migrated to the Z so I generally have it backed up.
Once I get a ROM dialed in I generally only use it for a semester and only for school stuff. (My boss and wife annoyingly keep me aware of other important calander events.) So I am not to worried about calendar and contact stuff but my sync to my unix box tends to keep those intact as far as I have noticed.
\"I generally only use it for a semester\" I guess that does not reflect to good on my underwear habits.
I think that I have heard of a way to create your own ROM\'s which would be great once I really get one dialed. If anyone has a link I would also appreciate that.

Wives and girlfriends have a remarkable effect on the nderwear habits.
\"Commando is not an option.\" - a real quote from the ex before the last ex.

well, duh, it seems that the ide-cs module is not included in the OZ 3.3.5 rom. so though luck, but it simply just won\'t access the CF card as it is. no use fiddling with cardctl.
also, there is no README file under http://www.openzaurus.org/official/3.3.5/husky/ (http://www.openzaurus.org/official/3.3.5/husky/) , thus there is nothing to read as far as the SL-C760 is concerned.
it is very sad that this OZ rom seems to have managed to put me into a situation where I can\'t access neither the network, nor the CF card on the system. thus I have to use an external CF card reader to put a decent ROM image onto my CF card and re-flash my Z so that it actually works.
duh.
