Title: How Do I Suspend?
Post by: Armagon on January 30, 2006, 08:09:31 pm
I've just installed GPE (for the first time) from OZ 3.5.4-RC for my C1000, and I can't figure out how to make it suspend/sleep.

I've done some playing around (Sleep Config doesn't run correctly), and searching on the forums and for FAQs, and haven't found (or have overlooked) the answer.

So, how do I suspend?

Thanks,
[and I'm excited to be able to run Inkscape!]

It appears that one way is, from the console as root, to type in:

Code: [Select]
apm --suspend
If I do it as root, pressing the power button resumes.  If I do it as an unpriviledged user, it will turn the Z off, but it can not be turned back on without taking the battery out and restarting.

Are there any other ways?

Sure. If you're running GPE, there should be a suspend item in the GPE menu

Hehe...

But then you may encounter a bug with resuming, which will hopefully corrected once 3.5.4 is out.

So for the current time you have already found the good working option.

Try removing the apm and apmd packages and installing Hrw's new ones from the upgrades feed. That has made my 5600 MUCH happier.. But it seems that just upgrading the packages causes problems. It was flakey for me untill I used the remove/reinstall method.

Hope this helps,
