Title: Streaming Video, How?
Post by: deluxe on February 04, 2006, 01:44:44 am
So, I have a zaurus sl-c1000, with cacko 1.23 heavy, and an Ambicom wifi CF card. Everything works pretty well except for minor stuff.
Question is, how do I get streaming video to play from a web url via my CF wifi card and Kino2 ?? Can someone really walk me through it please?......I need to know whether I need to change some settings in kino2 (currently have caching enabled......but how much do I need to set, and what # to type in for bandwidth), or if I need to be doing things quite differently.

When I click on File>Open url, and insert the address I want to "play"..........(is this the correct way to start a stream?), Kino2 seems to start playing, or at least start loading the file, but then it just goes back to the screen you see when Kino2 has finished playing some video or other.

Many thanks in advance for any help, pointers, whatever.

video lan client works on zaurus, otherwise mplayer willwork over the net keep in mind that you will not be able to decode huge streams (ie 640 x 480 @ 1mbps) for a number of reasons

If you want to steam your own PDA formated movies, you can mount an SMB connection to your PC (where your movies are stored). I did it, and used it a lot when I was using Cacko (works under pdaXrom too). Just  don't walk around with your Zaurus while steaming video over WiFi.
If you are trying to steam video from just any website on the net, I can't add much more than what Da_Blitz said, sorry.
