i wouldn't consider replacing it unless it was going to at least double the capacity.

wouldn't an 8gig micro drive be better?

IIRC, solid state storage is a little better as far as power consumption because there's no moving parts to, well, keep moving.  So there might be a slight advantage to replacing a microdrive with a solid state card.  But yeah, if I was going to change it out, I'd probably aim for more space too.

Another big advantage is no lag time when starting apps and also far greater MTBF (Mean time between failure).

And yes, there is a BIG difference in power consumption.

Space is not so important to me, because I don't use the Zaurus much for Multimedia stuff. Fast file load times and less power consumption (and less sensitivity to mechanical stress!) is much more important to me.
So I'll go for this offer and take two of them (for my two C3000s).
Thanks for the pointer Omicron!

These file load / spin up times were the reason why I put all my mutt mailboxes onto an SD card. mutt does a file read for every mail you put the cursor on, so if you scroll down in the mail list and read over the mails, for every mail the MD has to spin up first. Very annoying!
With that card, I can maybe put my mail onto the internal drive again.

so mutt downloads all your mail, not like ompi which does not? And maybe an upgrade is in the works, I could sell my microdrive for 50.00 to a co-worker....hmmm.

Yes, mutt does a very nice job, but it is console-based of course, so may not be for everyone.
Configuration for offline usage was a bit tricky, thoguh. I used msmtp with msmtp-enqueue / -runqueue scripts.

But from my exp, I don't like MDs too much.  Unlike CF, once you put MD to C3100, it is really a devil to take it out (it doesn't have that tap).
