has anyone ever tried this?  does it work?  I was looking for something like this but this one looks to be old.

Yeah, I tried it and got a connection error that I could never get past. When I tried to solve the problem by searching online, I found references to the same error occurring on desktop linux but no answers as to how to solve it. But this was all some time ago.
