Hello,
I found this document [1] which discribes a way to connect pcmcia/cf flash cards to an IDE bus. So I thought about if it is possible to connect an IDE harddrive to the Simpad over pcmcia. Having a mobile MMC to IDE device with a display could be verry cool for digial fotography. So you will be able to watch all the pictures on the Simpad over the MMC mod and sort them out. All pictures could than be saved on a 80 GB or greater IDE device.
Im too frightend to kill my Simpad for just trying it out so I wanted to ask first. The driver should be the same as for CF flash cards.

ps: Are here some OpenEmbedded users which could help me with the setup files?

I have a feeling that the electrical connections for the CF-IDE are easier than they would be for MMC/SD - IDE.
Or do you have an MMC-IDE adaptor?
Equally this document is talking about attaching a CF card to an IDE 'slot', not the other way around, though it might work I suppose.
I remember the handhelds.org devcluster used IDE HDDs that were connected via the CF slot (possibly with some kind of PCMCIA adaptor, I'm not sure), which might be of interest.

PCMCIA - IDE harddrive adaptors exist........ i'd suggest ebay... there are definitely 2.5" harddrive ones..

Could you please give me a hint for searching such an adapter on ebay? I could only find adaptors for connecting cf cards on ide. But none to connect ide harddrives on cf/pcmcia.
The mmc mod I was talking about was done by some guys here in the forum. They connected them over the serial pins form the dect module connector.
But her is a adapter for using mmc on pcmcia
It's a german distributer.

This distributer discribes that there is a ata specification for pcmcia. So that no driver is neaded.
