I want to buy a CF 802.11g card. I need it for use with my Sharp Zaurus SL-C1000. If anyone wants to offer an 802.11b card, I might go for that as well.

I'm pretty sure no Zaurus so far supports the g ... you'll have to settle for a b.

I have a D-Link Air 802.11b.
It was working fine on the 5500 until something happened to the CF slot ... now it won't read
anything CF ;-(
Not sure what a used D-Link 802.11b is worth these days. Perhaps $25. including shipping in
the continental USA (perhaps a little more elsewhere)?
I thought I read somewhere that "g" devices do work on the C1000/3xxx but not on the 5xxx
because it cannot handle the speed. You may want to check that before settling for a "b".

Wireless does confuse me a bit. My wireless router is 802.11g. Would 'b' work with it?

It should. I have never seen one that is not "backwards compatible".
It likely says that somewhere on the box or in the docs. ;-)

depends on router settings - if it is set to "G only" then 802.11b can not work - if you will get this situation then try to switch router to "G+B mode"

Is it fair to say that most if not all new routers come with both G & B toggled on?
If one buys a used router on a rare occasion the prior owner may have customized it
to "g" only.
There are some older "g" routers that drop all speeds to "b" if there is even one "b" logged
on but I understand that the newer ones only downshift for the individual "b" and continue
to run full "g" speed for the "g" devices.
Or so I am told ... ;-)
I didn't want him to buy my "b" device only to discover that he could have bought a "g"
and have it work on his Zaurus.
BTW: Is $25. shipped fair or a little high for a used D-Link Air in the current marketplace?
I really do not know.

That is what is in my C1000 right now.
If the CF slot in my 5500 can be restored it may go there.
I didn't notice but I suspect there may be a shipping cost on top
of the $29.99 Buy Now price?
Also, from what I read when I loaded the app to get the C1000
to see the SanDisk CF Wireless/Memory Combo Card one may
not use both features simultaneously.
Also, the card must be activated from Terminal mode, there is
not yet a GUI activation app. Also, one must return to the Terminal
to switch between Wireless and Memory. I have also observed that
if left in Wireless mode the CF slot is captured even if the SanDisk
has been properly ejected. One must remember to switch to Memory
mode prior to ejecting the SanDisk else the CF slot is unusable.
